Died peacefully on 3rd September 2026 at the Downe hospital with his family in attendance.

Much loved husband of the late Colette & devoted father to Richard (Mandy), Frank, Elizabeth (Brian), Dan (Celeste), Nora (Michael) , John (Donna) and Colm (Claire). Much loved grandfather to Emilie, Katie, Cameron, Aoife, Alex , Matthew, Danny, Olivia, Manus, Samuel & Lucie, great grandfather to Oscàir & Aílbe.

Funeral from his late residence 7 Kilbride Road Downpatrick on Sunday 6th September at 12.00 noon for 12.30 pm Requiem Mass in Saint Patrick’s Chapel Downpatrick and burial afterwards in Struell Cemetery

Friends are welcome to call at Joe’s home from Thursday 6.00pm and all day Friday and Saturday until 7pm.

Saint Padre Pio pray for him.

UPDATE Friday 7th Aug

It would appear that the main’s water is off in Knocknashinna??? Did any resident receive notification of this?

MAINS WATER NOW BACK ON for some residents but not all - restored early this morning 👏, the residents should have been told there was an issue etc.. not good enough 😡😡😡

To have others still without water for more than 10 hours is unacceptable..

Running from 12.00 noon to 3.00pm this afternoon we have a great range of fun activities available 🤗

Sports, games, tombola, face painting, balloon modelling & lots more

Our committee record our deepest sympathies to Gerry’s family following his passing, another long time resident of Knocknashinna RIP Gerry 🙏

McCASHIN Gerald (Gerry), 9 Drumreagh Park, Downpatrick died peacefully in Ringdufferin Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family on Monday 13 July.

Dearly beloved husband of the late Patsy, loving father of Jacqueline, devoted father-in-law of Eamon, cherished grandfather of Rachel (Gerald), Clodagh (Ryan) and the late Conor and loving great-grandfather of Saorlaith and Caoile.

Gerald is reposing in the Chapel of Rest, Down Funeral Directors, 26 John Street, Downpatrick, BT30 6BY with the family in attendance on Tuesday 14 July from 4-8pm.

Gerald will leave the funeral home on Wednesday 15 July at 9.30am for 10am Requiem Mass in St Patrick's Church, Saul with interment following in the family burial ground at St Patrick's Cemetery, Killough Road, Downpatrick.

Deeply regretted by his daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and large circle of family and friends.

Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.

Knocknashinna community funday 2026 - is this Sunday coming - 👏😎 (26th July) 😎

Everyone is most welcome to come along and join our funday (weather permitting), Knocknashinna Playpark is the venue with the activities starting from 12.00 noon - it will be a super afternoon of fun and games 😎

Big thanks to the Dpk Com Collective who have assisted in the delivery of this community funday and to Newry Mourne & Down Council for assisting with the funding for this event👏
