Cleanthequoile Campaign led by The River Quoile Trust to improve water quality, recreation & conservation at the River Quoile in Downpatrick.

Our purpose is to conserve, protect, rehabilitate and improve the River Quoile for the advancement of environmental protection and improvement – and to advance the education of all stakeholders in understanding, conserving, protecting and improving the biodiversity and recreational capability of the River Quoile area. The River Quoile Trust is a community body leading the Clean the Quoile campaig

n. Our mission to educate the public on the importance of this area of special scientific interest. We want to restore the Quoile Countryside Centre and provide opportunities to learn about the rich history, culture and environment around us.

FB / Insta Don’t rely on others to report environmental incidents!

If you spot damage or danger to the natural environment when out and about this summer, report it using this new online form ➡️ https://www.daera-ni.gov.uk/articles/daera-environmental-incident-reporting-system
This includes:

-poaching or illegal fishing
-damage to Areas of Special Scientific Interest
-illegal waste sites & unlicensed waste carriers
-damage or destruction of bat roosts
-dead marine mammals
-unlicensed activities in the marine area

Remember – where there is an immediate threat to life, health or property always call 999.

Most crime directly impacting protected wildlife should also be reported to PSNI by calling 101 or 999.

All emergency water pollution incidents should be reported to the NIEA Incident Hotline 0800 807060.

NI Water and DfI clearing drains instead.

A tourist town in Co Down is being plagued by a ‘dead zone’ which is creating an unpleasant smell and an unsightly eyesore at the heart of Newcastle.

Water sources are under pressure according to the EPA and will take some time to fully recover, with more than 60% of river flows falling below normal levels!
