Adventure Starts Here: Our First Ever Squirrels Session! 🐿️✨

We are absolutely thrilled to share the news—our very first Squirrels session was a fantastic success!

It was a day full of curiosity and nature-inspired fun as our newest members dove straight into the great outdoors. The group got stuck into some vital conservation work by building their own bug hotels, creating cozy homes for our local creepy-crawlies. 🐞🏡

Along the way, the Squirrels learned all about the important role that bugs play as pollinators and how they help our gardens grow. It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm and kindness toward nature! 🌿

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organize and support this special first meeting. We couldn't have asked for a better start to the Squirrels' journey.

Welcome to the family, Squirrels! We can’t wait to see what you discover next.

To the top of the tower! 🔔🧗‍♂️

Our Scouts were back at the church last week for another fantastic bell ringing session! This time, we were lucky enough to have a demonstration from Gill, Meena, and Daniel, who showed us the ropes (literally!).

Every single Scout got stuck in and had a go at chiming a bell themselves. The highlight of the night was definitely when the group took turns to climb the tower to get an up-close look at the bells in their home.

A huge thank you to the team for welcoming us back and letting us explore even further!

Ringing in the fun tonight! 🔔⛪

Our Scouts had an absolutely brilliant session this week! A massive thank you to Andy—a Scout leader and expert bell ringer from Hartshorne—for coming down to share his passion with us.

The group learned the fascinating history and mechanics of bell ringing before getting hands-on with some handbells! 🎶 We kept the energy high with some bell-themed games and ended the night with an epic Tug-O-War using a real bell rope right in the church aisle! 💪🪢

It’s not every day you get to test your strength in the middle of a church! Great effort from all the Scouts for trying something totally new.

From Garden Beds to Forest Beds! 🪴🌲

Our group embraced the outdoors this week with some fantastic badge work and traditions.

The Beavers showed great teamwork building shelters from scratch—the perfect excuse to enjoy a hot chocolate outside together! 🍫🧤 Meanwhile, the Cubs were busy reaping what they sowed, harvesting a crop of spinach and radishes from our garden. 🪴 A special thanks to Something Pretty Plants for their generous donation of seeds 🌱 https://www.facebook.com/share/1ULP1oqCE3/

The Cubs also stepped back in time to learn Morse code for their Communicator badge and kept the Scouting spirit alive with legendary games of "Shere Khan and Mowgli" and "Ladders." 🦁⚡

⁉️ Did your Cub manage to "tap out" any secret messages at home tonight? 🕵️‍♂️📟

To the Rescue! 🚨🚒 Our Beavers and Cubs visit Uttoxeter Fire & Police Station!

What a night! Our Beavers and Cubs joined forces this week for an incredible behind-the-scenes tour of the Uttoxeter Fire and Police Station. From seeing mangled training cars to the "smoke house" training building, our young people got a real taste of what it takes to be a first responder. 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

We split into groups to master some essential emergency knowledge:

💨 Group 1: Explored breathing apparatus, learned how firefighters communicate in low-vision environments, and even tested out a thermal imaging gun!

🚒 Group 2: Dug into the side of the fire truck to see hoses, fire hydrant connectors, and even specialized animal oxygen masks. 🐾

✂️ Group 3: Got hands-on with the "Jaws of Life," and saw how axes and crowbars are used in real life rescues!

The highlight for many was definitely climbing into the cab of the fire engine for a true driver’s-eye view. 🚐✨ To top off an already amazing night, we were met by a local Police Officer who let us see her vehicle in action with the lights and sirens blaring! 🚔💙

We closed the session by awarding some well-earned badges. A massive thank you to the Uttoxeter Fire Service for inspiring the next generation of heroes, our young leaders for coming along to support our session and to our parents for being so helpful with the drop-off and pick-up guidance!

Sharp knives, sharp minds, and NO bandages! 🔪🪵✨

Our Scouts were out on the field tonight for a masterclass in whittling! It was a session that required serious focus, and the group did a brilliant job.

The Scouts spent the evening concentrating hard on shaping their wood into everything from pointed tent pegs and decorative sticks to an impressive spoon/stirring stick! Most importantly, they followed all their safety rules—wearing their protective gloves and keeping a safe distance from their friends.

The best news of the night? The first aid kit stayed firmly closed! 😂🙌 Great job to everyone for showing such maturity and skill.

Masterclass in Campfire Cooking 🪵👨‍🍳

Our Scouts stepped away from the kitchen and into the outdoors this week for a hands-on backwoods cooking session.

Using fresh wild garlic 🍃 the group learned how to make a simple, savory dough from scratch using flour, cheese, and milk. Watching them manage the heat of their fires to get that perfect bake was fantastic to see.

It’s amazing what you can create with just a few simple ingredients and an open flame! 🥖🔥

Still on a high from our Alter Rock adventure! 🧗‍♂️💥

We have so many great photos from our climbing session that we just had to share a few more! 📸🎬

It wasn't just about reaching the top; it was about the concentration in the "bouldering" room, the teamwork of those cheering from the bottom, and the brave leaps (and slips!) that make Scouting such an adventure.

Check out the photos below to see our Cubs—and a few of our brave leaders—conquering their fears one handhold at a time! 🧗‍♀️🔥

Reaching new heights at Alter Rock! 🧗‍♂️✨

Our Cubs had an incredible session at Alter Rock in Derby this weekend.

It wasn't just about getting to the top; it was about the determination they showed along the way. Even when the challenges got tough, the pack supported each other and pushed through with huge smiles. 🤝💪

A massive well done to the Cubs for their brilliant behavior and for listening so well throughout the day—you were a true credit to our group! Even the leaders got stuck in and gave it a go, making it a brilliant day of teamwork for everyone. 🧗‍♀️🙌
