2025-26 saw Home Start Dover celebrating 30 years of the service 🥳

An inspiring afternoon last November of shared stories and reflections which we also remembered at our AGM this week.

So many of our staff, trustees and volunteers have been involved with Home Start Dover for many of these 30 years and we are fortunate to have such enthusiastic and committed people at the core of our service.

Some of our former families that have benefited from the support of Home Start Dover have also joined the team as volunteers and trustees and we were delighted to welcome more prospective volunteers to the AGM this week 💜🧡

At our AGM, Home Start Dover reflected on our core belief ‘that children need a happy and secure childhood and that parents play a key role in giving children a good start in life and helping them achieve their full potential’

We celebrated our mission to ‘offer support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children’

Our annual report outlines the types of support delivered in 2025/26, referral sources, and the number of adults and children supported, including those with disabilities. It also highlights how families’ needs have improved through , volunteer involvement, family group support and focused Family Practitioner support. 💜🧡

On Monday Home Start Dover District held our Annual General Meeting and celebrated the work done to support families in our community during 2025-26.

We heard reports from our chair of trustees, treasurer and scheme manager as well as thanking staff, current volunteers and welcoming prospective volunteers.

‘Our volunteers continue to go above and beyond, through home visiting, group support and their unwavering kindness. Their dedication sits at the heart of Home Start Dover, and without them, we simply wouldn’t exist.’

These in person sessions are not compulsory, but they’re strongly encouraged as they help build confidence and connection in the volunteer role.

Our volunteers walk alongside parents of young children, offering support, encouragement and a listening ear when life feels tough.
Join our team and help give local children the best possible start.
