Thank you so much, Hannah - we have passed this on to all the members who contributed their makes to this donation to your appeal. 😊

We might not have posted for a while, since finishing the construction of the poppy cascade at the end of last year, but our lovely members have still been very busy, creating makes for our various ongoing appeals!

Here's the latest post from our Chairman, following Hannah Harvey 's visit to us on Friday to collect all these amazing makes for the East Kent Hospitals Charity appeals!

Here is a post from our Chairman, Una Mills, regarding the amazing Poppy cascade which was installed outside St Mary's Church yesterday.
.....

I am immensely proud of what our group has achieved with this project, which is by far the biggest that we have taken on. We have made poppy carpets in past years, but a poppy cascade for St Mary the Virgin Church Dover, which is the town church and the civic church, required considerable planning to obtain the permissions required and to encourage support from our community with knitting and crocheting the many poppies that were required. Discussions commenced in November 2024, with the official launch in March 2025.

We are extremely grateful to the local businesses, local community groups, local charities, local churches and all the individual people who knitted and crocheted the poppies. We have a list of them, but a considerable number wanted to remain anonymous.

Many hours have been spent by our group in making poppies and constructing the cascade. Some of us have been working on the construction every day for a number of weeks.

The people standing by the poppy cascade from
left to right in the photograph are Caroline English (Committee Member), Una Mills (Chairman), Karen Roberts (Treasurer) and Karen Baker (Committee Member). The video, which has been sped up, is of Tony and his team from Hipperson, who very generously put the cascade up for us today.

On behalf of our group may I thank you all in assisting us to achieve such a wonderful display for Remembrance Sunday 2025. 😍

Another project that our group has contributed to.

Here's an updated message from our Chairman!
.....

In the photograph are more poppies that we have received for the poppy cascade. We counted them at the end of August and the total received so far is three thousand, two hundred and four. This is a very big project that will be in place on St Mary’s Church for Remembrance Sunday. We need more poppies and have designed knitting and crochet patterns as they need to be bigger than the regular poppy pin-badges. If you would like to help us with this project, please e-mail me at [email protected] and I will send you the patterns together with the drop-off points for the poppies.

A huge thank you to our wonderful community who have supported us so far and who continue to support us with this project. We are extremely grateful to you all. 😍

Here's an exciting message from our Group Chairman, Una Mills!

We are delighted to announce that last Wednesday we counted the poppies received so far for the poppy cascade. The total was two thousand, four hundred and fifty-six. It is a very big project that will be in place on St Mary’s Church for Remembrance Sunday. We need more poppies and have designed knitting and crochet patterns as they need to be bigger than the regular poppy pin-badges. If you would like to help us with this project, please e-mail me at [email protected] and I will send you the patterns together with the drop-off points for the poppies.

A huge thank you to all of the community who have supported us so far and who continue to support us with this project. You are all amazing. 😍
