Dementia Friendly Doune and Deanston Dementia Friendly Doune and Deanston was established in 2023. The Meeting Centre operates from the Doune Castle Bowling Club in Doune.

It offers ongoing warm and friendly support to people, and families affected by dementia. The Meeting Centre operates from Doune Castle Bowling Club. It offers ongoing warm and friendly support to people and families affected by dementia. The Meeting Centres open on the following days;

First Thursday of Every Month at Wednesdays 11am – 3pm

At the heart of our Meeting Centre is a social club wher

e people can meet to have fun, talk
to others, and get help that focuses on individual needs. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers provide an enjoyable and interactive
programme for both the person with dementia and their family carers. It provides a chance
to get together socially, to be creative, to get active and to share lunch on Fridays. Family carers get assistance with practical and emotional issues, as well as
being able to contribute to social club activities. Some family members use the opportunity
to have a break from their caring role.

A lovely day with our Dementia Friendly Doune and Deanston group 🩵

It was our last visit from the current P7s at Doune Primary before they head off to high school - they were tasked with deciding the activity and organising it themselves. They created a sing-a-long karaoke 🎤 session from some golden oldies (sorry kids, songs even older than the 90s even though that was aaggggeeessss ago!) They brought high energy, fun, dance moves 💃 🕺 and smiles 😃 thanks for all your visits over the past year we have loved having you 💙

Lovely chilled lunch with delicious soup by our very own Bob M! 🤤 Everyone looked very happy and enjoyed our day together 💙

The countdown is on! Pop along to Moray Park on Saturday for a fantastic day of community spirit, family fun, entertainment, and celebrations at Doune Gala Day.

There will be something for everyone to enjoy, including the parade, live entertainment, activities, stalls, refreshments, and much more. It's the perfect opportunity to come together, catch up with friends and neighbours, and celebrate everything that makes our community special.

Fun session yesterday with football ⚽️ activities by Chris from Active Stirling challenging us with World Cup flag trivia before a Dementia Friendly Doune and Deanston Vs Doune Primary P7s "friendly" football match! With the dementia team getting the win 🏆 🙌

We were filled up with a yummy lunch including Simply Sarah's soup and our lovely scones which are donated from Blairmains Farm Shop and Coffee Bothy Deanston.

None of this is possible without our wonderful volunteers - a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who comes to our group and helps - it is all much appreciated especially during 2026 - the group wouldn't run without you. Thanks to Sandra, Anne M, Michelle, Pamela, Scott, Anne R and Linda for yesterday 💙

A different day for Dementia Friendly Doune and Deanston today - we had a trip to the The Falkirk Wheel 🛶

A lovely day despite the terrible Scottish weather ☔️ - a trip on the wheel and then a delicious lunch 😋 everyone had a great time!

Thanks to Doune Travel & Dial-a-Journey for our transport 🚌

Chris from Active Stirling came to offer a session of chair based exercises and we were joined by some P7s from Doune Primary who were very enthusiastic to take part!

Delicious soup donated from Buttercup Cafe, Doune - which went down a storm! Our lovely donation of scones from Blairmains Farm Shop and Coffee Bothy Deanston, is always appreciated 💙

We’re delighted to share some wonderful news — Dementia Friendly Doune and Deanston is now officially a registered charity! 🎉

This is an important milestone for our community group and a big step forward in supporting people living with dementia, their families, friends, and carers across Doune and Deanston.

Becoming a registered charity will help us continue to grow our work, develop new activities and support, and strengthen our commitment to creating a more dementia-friendly community for everyone.

A huge thank you to all our volunteers, supporters, local organisations, and community members who have helped us reach this point. Your encouragement and dedication have made this possible.

We look forward to the next chapter and to continuing this journey together. 💙

These sessions are open to unpaid carers, family members, friends and anyone supporting someone at home.
