What a great day we had at our Spring gathering, thank you for hosting us so wonderfully, Comrie Croft.

We heard an inspiring keynote from Rev Prof Ian Bradley, reflecting on Columba.

It was fantastic to hear the passion and enthusiasm for the braided ‘Columba Way’ route mapping from Iona to St. Andrews (Three Saints Way)

To hear about an exhibition about Columba on the move around various locations.

To hear about happenings and exciting developments from the Fife Pilgrim Way Pastor

To get an update on the The Tin Tabernacle in Killin

To journey some of the virtual St Magnus Way - what a beautiful moment that was!

To hear more about the beautiful, regular pilgrimage walks happening at Dunkeld Cathedral

To hear about exciting developments on Lismore from The Cathedral Church of St. Molaug.

And about the ongoing pilgrimage journeys on Mull and Iona with Mull Another Way

And an encouragement for nominations for the John Henderson Award…

And more. Not least a delicious lunch, lots of sharing of ideas and a grand tour of the immense place that is Comrie Croft.

'Pilgrimage is more than a wandering, it is a wondering' Sally Foster-Fulton

Did you catch the beautiful programme exploring themes and experiences of pilgrimage, from the Fife Pilgrim Way on BBC Radio 4 Sunday Morning?

You can listen again to Sally Foster-Fulton and Gilbert Márkus as they reflect together as they visit inspiring points on what was one of the most important pilgrim routes in medieval Europe, leading through Fife towards the relics of St Andrew.

It isn't on a Scottish Pilgrim Route, but still worth sharing...

The Most Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally Archbishop of Canterbury is walking 140km from St Paul's Cathedral to Canterbury this week, ahead of her Installation as Archbishop of Canterbury on 25 March.

It's the first time in modern times an Archbishop has undertaken a walking pilgrimage like this — and it feels like a profound sign of how deeply pilgrimage is capturing hearts and imaginations right now.

"As I walk this path I will be praying for our Church and our world, and asking God to bless those we meet. Every Christian life is a pilgrimage - a journey with God." Archbishop Sarah

A pilgrim’s passport has also been specially produced for the journey, designed by pupils from Ospringe Church of England Primary School in Faversham.

May you continue to have a good pilgrimage, Archbishop Sarah.

In the car park behind Wooler URC, one of the St Cuthberts Way churches, you will find an unexpected place of peace, refreshment and Spiritual renewal. A new labyrinth and prayer garden is now open, and EVERYONE is invited to explore it.

What is a labyrinth?

A Labyrinth is a design which forms a single path leading from the outside to the centre and back again. Unlike a maze there are no dead ends. To journey in and out, all you have to do is to keep on walking, thoughtfully and mindfully. Labyrinth designs date from the earliest times and were carved into rocks, painted or even stitched into fabric. They were a feature of many cathedrals, marked out on the floor, as an invitation to walk and pray as you reflect on where you are in life.

Please do come along and experience the Labyrinth for yourself. Please contact Fliss Barker on [email protected] for more information.

And you may be interested in joining the pilgrimage with St. Cuthbert's Way churches together and Rural Ministries from Wooler URC to St. Cuthbert's Cave this Saturday 21st March - register here: https://St-Cuthberts-pilgrimage.eventbrite.co.uk

🌟 St. Kentigern Way achieves bronze accreditation! 🌟

We’re thrilled to share that The Kentigern Way has been awarded Bronze Level accreditation under the Scottish Pilgrim Ways™ Accreditation Scheme — a national standard that recognises authentic, walkable pilgrim routes with strong volunteer support and historic connection to pilgrimage tradition.

Celebrated at Glasgow Cathedral on St Kentigern’s Day, 13th January, the accolade honours the hard work of the dedicated volunteers who’ve developed this 150-mile off-road pilgrim path from Annan to Glasgow — tracing the footsteps of Scotland’s beloved patron saint, Saint Mungo, also known as St.Kentigern.

🏞️ Winding through the river valleys of the Annan, Tweed and Clyde, The Kentigern Way now joins other recognised Scottish pilgrim paths under a national framework that helps walkers and cyclists know what to expect and celebrates Scotland’s ancient pilgrimage heritage.

Whether you’re after a contemplative day walk or a full pilgrimage adventure, this route invites you to walk with purpose, reflection and connection.

On the Twelfth Way of Christmas we journey along Walk the Whithorn Way walkthewhithornway

A 155 mile walking and cycling route, which follows much of the westerly pilgrimage route to Whithorn, travelled by pilgrims for well over 1300 years.

At its peak round 1500, the shrine attracted pilgrims from Scotland, England and beyond, who traced a network of sea and land routes to Whithorn. St Ninian became the favoured saint of the Royal House of Stuart, which further stimulated national devotion.

Now you can walk ( or cycle ) the Whithorn Way for yourself, or try out just one of its thirteen richly historic segments.

The films on The Whithorn Trust website give you highlights from the Cathedral at Glasgow through 155 miles of rambling back roads, quiet cycle paths, or stunning beach walks, to Whithorn.

Find out more and view the films here:
