What a fantastic day at Portfield School! ๐Ÿš’

We were thrilled to welcome Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service to our school. Our students explored a real fire engine, met the firefighters, learned important fire safety tips, and enjoyed an exciting water hose demonstration.

A huge thank you to the amazing team at Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service for making the day so special for our students.โค๏ธ ๐Ÿ“ธ

With womenโ€™s football inspiring millions, weโ€™re proud to celebrate Lucy Bronze as a role model for our school community. โค๏ธ

At Portfield School Sixth Form, our Bronze Class is named in her honour, recognising both her outstanding football career and her advocacy for autism acceptance.

Lucy has spoken openly about her autism diagnosis, sharing her experiences of feeling different growing up and learning to embrace her strengths. Her honesty, resilience, and determination make her an inspiring figure for our students.

We enjoyed a trip to Southbourne to watch the Distinguished Gentlemanโ€™s Ride. The people we support enjoyed seeing the bikes as they passed through the area, creating a wonderful atmosphere along the high street.

After stopping for refreshments at a local pub, Alexander and Deacon enjoyed watching the parade and chatting about their favourite motorcycles.

It was a lovely opportunity to get out into the community and be part of a special event that raises awareness and funds for menโ€™s mental health and prostate cancer research.

It was big thumbs up from Matilda!

A great day at the Natspec Conference 2026 for Tilly and Dr Gill, who joined colleagues from across the specialist FE sector to learn, connect, and share ideas.๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’ก

The event brought together passionate professionals committed to creating opportunities for young people with additional needs, with inspiring keynote speakers and valuable discussions throughout the day.

A particular highlight was the gala dinner, which ended with a fantastic performance from the young people at West London Performing Arts College. Their energy, talent, and passion were truly inspiring.

Thank you to Natspec for a brilliant event and to Tilly and Gill for representing our team. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’™

Our team, CEO Donna, Claire, Abby, and Becs, spent the day connecting with HR and people professionals who are passionate about creating workplaces where everyone can thrive.

We had brilliant conversations about neurodiversity, workplace inclusion, and the practical steps organisations can take to better support neurodivergent talent.๐Ÿง

A real highlight was our session Beyond the Label: Neurodiversity in the Workplace. Led by Becs, it ran twice and both sessions attracted a full house!๐ŸŒ

It was inspiring to hear the questions, lived experiences, and ideas shared throughout the day, a powerful reminder of the importance of neuroinclusion across every sector.

The Wellbeing Village also offered a welcome moment of calm, with therapy dogs giving attendees a chance to pause and reset between sessions. ๐Ÿพ

We also enjoyed sessions from other speakers, with valuable insights on inclusion, workplace culture, psychological safety, and trust.

Most of all, it was great to connect with so many people committed to turning inclusion from aspiration into everyday practice! ๐Ÿ’™

ACT (Ardonagh Community Trust), the independent charity of The Ardonagh Group, is currently on an inspiring UK and Ireland tour aboard their iconic green double-decker bus ๐ŸšŒ, supporting communities along the way, and weโ€™re so grateful to have been chosen as one of their charities.

This donation will go towards John Youngโ€™s fundraising for a defibrillator at our Portfield Sixth Form, helping us take a big step towards installing this lifesaving equipment for our students and staff. โค๏ธ

A huge thank you to the Ardonagh Community Trust and to Natalie Joyce from Riskstop Group Ltd for your nomination, we truly appreciate your support!

One of our students recently joined our Health & Safety Officer for an inspection at Portfield School turning a personal passion into real, handsโ€‘on experience.

From checking fire exits to spotting potential risks, she took the lead with confidence and curiosity, learning how health and safety works in the real world.

At Autism Unlimited, we design work experience around what our students genuinely care about, helping them build skills, independence and a clearer sense of their future.

Creating meaningful futures starts with opportunities like this.

This Volunteers Week, weโ€™re celebrating some of the incredible people across our charity who generously give their time to support others. โค๏ธ

Matt has been part of our community for 15 years and volunteers with our Adult Services team two to three times each week. His dedication, kindness, and reliability have made him an invaluable member of the team.

Carla from Adult Services shares: โ€œMatt has made a world of difference to our service. His presence brings so much positivity, he is a genius in finding solutions to electronic systems, he supports by answering the phones when we are busy, and heโ€™s become such an important part of the team.โ€

Jay, one of our Future Learners, began volunteering at Hengistbury Head Hikers Cafรฉ with support and has since grown in confidence to volunteer independently two days a week.

Owen, from Portfield Sixth Form, regularly volunteers in a church. Reflecting on his experience, he says: โ€œThe type of people you meet along the way is a real blessing, theyโ€™re very kind and help you. I find peace in volunteering, and I take a lot of pride in it.โ€

These stories show the true impact of volunteering, not just time given, but confidence built, communities strengthened, and lives changed.

To Owen, Matt, Jay, and every volunteer who supports us, thank you for all that you do! ๐Ÿ’™

On Sunday 24th May, Kayla, Graham and Andy completed the 2026 Edinburgh Marathon for Autism Unlimited, each running for someone close to their heart.

Between them, theyโ€™ve raised over ยฃ2,000 to support autistic people and their families.๐ŸŽ‰

Andy raised over ยฃ1,700 and completed the marathon in an impressive 3 hours and 35 minutes, told us:

โ€œBoth my children are without a doubt my heroes. When things felt tough during the marathon, I just kept thinking of them to get me through.โ€

For Graham, this was his fourth Edinburgh Marathon, and he chose to run for his autistic son.

Kayla ran to raise awareness of autism, inspired by her nieceโ€™s diagnosis.

Their determination, compassion and commitment reflect everything we stand for at Autism Unlimited. Weโ€™re so grateful for their support.๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿค—

Feeling inspired? We have discounted places for the 2027 Edinburgh Marathon and other events.
