Lots going on about water quality for our Harbour. BCP have committed funding to establish a protection framework, on Tuesday we have a meeting of some 40 local harbour businesses and clubs and associations to discuss our 2027 bathing water status application and hopefully agree owners for the data gathering we will require. Wessex Water have agreed to fund a year of water testing at Hengistbury Head Outdoors and on Wednesday we have a meeting with our local MP Tom Hayes, DEFRA, the Environment Agency, BCP and hopefully Wessex Water to agree further actions and initiatives.
This is really getting momentum now and more will be coming where our community can get involved, such as “adopt and outflow” - I know doesn’t sound that glamorous but regular observations and photos will really help the cause.
