Stuart Rennie a Royal Dornoch member from a young age is the chosen golf course architect for the relocation of the Torvean Golf Course, Inverness. Stuart takes a lot of inspiration from Dornoch, not unlike historical architect Donald Ross. French Bread - dating back to 1734 - French bread is a wheaten loaf enriched with eggs, butter and milk. Effectively it was a form of the manchet eaten by the elite. Small loaves of manchet became known as French rolls. This recipe is from the Elgin pantry book of 1734. Typically the ingredients and quantities are given with the method.

Oyster gauge 19th century - oysters were plentiful and Scots consumed enormous quantities. Oyster taverns in towns were notorious. Oatmeal pudding 1659 - Henry Blaxton boiled oatmeal inside a cloth bag in beef broth to make this oatmeal pudding. Cream boiled with mace and nutmeg was added along with slices of manchet, eggs and bone marrow. The spicy pudding was sweetened and flavoured with rosewater and sack.
