🌳 NOTICE – TREE WORKS & TEMPORARY ACCESS CLOSURE 🌳

Please be advised that essential tree works will be taking place at the entrance to the Cricket Club on Wednesday 21st October 202.

🚧 For health and safety reasons, this access will be closed for the entire day while the works are carried out.

We kindly ask residents and visitors to avoid using this entrance during this time and to respect any safety barriers or signage in place.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank everyone for their patience and understanding while these necessary works are undertaken.

🚗 20mph Scheme – Positive Progress! 🚗

We’re pleased to share some very welcome news regarding the proposed 20mph scheme for Charminster.

Dorset Council has confirmed that the scheme has now been authorised to progress to the next stage, alongside a number of other communities across Dorset.

The next step will be to finalise the signage and road marking designs and coordinate the installation programme with contractors. Because of the challenges of installing permanent road markings during the winter months, the approved Phase 4 schemes are currently expected to be delivered as part of a coordinated programme in Spring 2027.

This is a significant step forward after the work that has gone into progressing the application, and we’re very pleased to see the scheme moving closer to delivery.

We are also pleased to confirm that Charlton Down is included in the next tranche of 20mph schemes, which is due to move into public consultation shortly.

We’ll share further updates as soon as we receive them.

🍎 Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Community Apple Pressing Day! 🍏

Despite the rain, we had a really good turnout and it was lovely to see so many people coming along to pick, press and enjoy the apples from the orchard.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the afternoon such a success. 🌧️🍎

And don’t forget – our next Apple Pressing Day is next Sunday at 2pm at Millers Orchard, Charminster.

Everyone is welcome, so come along and join in! Please bring some containers if you would like to take some freshly pressed apple juice home with you.

Reminder it is the first of the Apple Pressing day starting tomorrow at Charlton Down, all welcome just come along at 2pm to the Community Orchard...

🍎 Community Apple Pressing Days 2026 🍏

Charminster Parish Council is pleased to be holding two community apple pressing afternoons this autumn.

📍 Charlton Down Community Orchard
📅 Sunday 27 September 2026
⏰ 2pm–4pm

📍 Millers Orchard, Mill Lane,
📅 Sunday 4 October 2026
⏰ 2pm–4pm

Everyone is welcome to come along, help pick apples from the orchards and see them turned into fresh apple juice.

🥤 Please bring your own containers if you would like to take some freshly pressed juice home.

All the equipment is available — we just need some willing volunteers to help on the day! No previous experience needed.

If you would like more information or can volunteer, please contact the Clerk at [email protected] or speak to any Parish Councillor.

🍎 We hope to see lots of you there for a fun community afternoon!

⚽ FREE FULL-SIZE FOOTBALL GOAL ⚽ re listed

Charminster Parish Council has a full-size football goal available free of charge, as it is no longer required at North Street Play Area.
Size: 24ft × 8ft
Condition: Excellent
Construction: Professionally custom-made, galvanised and powder-coated white
The goal separates into four sections and includes the front ground sockets.
The person taking the goal will be responsible for dismantling it, removing the sockets and taking everything away. Collection must be arranged in advance with the Parish Clerk.

Notice:
Dorset Council’s Highway Service will temporarily pause the reporting of non-emergency highway issues from 14 to 28 September 2026 while it introduces its new Aurora highways asset management system.

During this period:
* Residents will not be able to submit new non-emergency highway reports or enquiries online or through Dorset Direct.
* Existing reports will continue to be managed and transferred to the new system.
* Highway inspections and maintenance will continue as normal.
* Emergency highway issues can still be reported.
* The new system is expected to go live on 28 September 2026, when normal reporting services will resume.

The temporary pause is needed to allow information to be transferred accurately and to help ensure a smooth changeover to the new system.
