Wow! Just last month we brought Inside Out Dorset to life — and what an unforgettable festival it was. ✨

🎥 Check out this short film capturing just some of the incredible moments: from dance workshops on the beach, pyrotechnics and carnival queens, to sonic seed pods, flags, and a new giant for the Dorset landscape. We had Catalan artists performing in an ancient village, a choir singing in the forest, and communities coming together for parades, lining the streets and scaling steep hills.

Across five remarkable locations — Christchurch, Yeovil, Moors Valley Country Park & Forest, Corfe Castle and Weymouth — thousands of people came together to share joy, creativity and connection.

Thank you to everyone who made it happen — our audiences, artists, participants, volunteers, funders, partners and supporters.

Our festival finale - and the finale of Beach of Dreams - took place in Weymouth town centre and on the beautiful sands of Weymouth beach.

The whole event saw people joining dance workshops, the fantastic installation of hundreds of pennants and a mesmerising performance. We were thrilled to be joined by thousands of people lining the streets and watching the performance, plus five local dance groups taking part alongside professional dancers from Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts in India. There was a gig boat and a carnival queen! It truly brought the town’s community together and the atmosphere was inspiring.

Today we’re sharing some lovely memories from our Inside Out Dorset event in Yeovil.

After its unveiling at Cerne Abbas (next to the original giant and inspiration for the artwork), the Consequences giant visited Summerhouse Hill in Yeovil.

A stone’s throw from the bustling leisure park, this location saw hundreds of people join a community parade with banners proclaiming “Together. We. Are. Giant.”, walk the very steep hill to get a closer look at the giant, and join amazing workshops with the Radical Ritual creative team. We even had two Police Community Support Officers join the activities!

Another look back at some of this year’s iconic moments from Inside Out Dorset - this time from our events in Corfe Castle.

This unique and ancient village welcomed us, the Consequences giant, and the programme of Catalan artists presenting their work in Dorset for the first time.

We had absolute downpours of rain as well as beautiful sunshine. We had wonderful audiences who played games by the church, had straw put in their mouth during a show and helped create a tubular sound installation in the grounds of the castle itself. We also succumbed to the delicious pasties in the village bakery!

Thank you to those who joined us for Consequences, Arrels, We Fear, Idiòfona and Poi.

Funding from Garrick Charitable Trust, Institut Ramon Llull and Lighthouse Poole. Special thanks to National Trust Corfe Castle Sandy Hill Arts and Swanage Railway.

Consequences is a Radical Ritual production, part of the Nature Calling programme.

Moors Valley Country Park and Forest 🌳

600 conkers counted by one enthusiastic child, a wonderful touch tour enjoyed by young and old alike, a beautiful evening with a choir in the forest, and several canine friends enjoying the sound trail!

CANOPY: 24 ideas about trees by Lorna Rees provided many inspiring moments connecting those enjoying the sound trail to their surroundings. We listened and we learned.
