Dorset Community Credits Scheme

Dorset Community Credits Scheme The Dorset Community Credits scheme matches people who have mild learning difficulties with a volunteering opportunity and a Mentor.

The Community Credits Scheme offers the opportunity for volunteers and mentors to work on projects together and reach achievable goals In return they get time credits that can be 'spent' on an activity of their choice. That could mean a range of things from time at a local gym or cinema to learning a craft. Time banking schemes have been running successfully in the UK since 1988 in business, the

public and community sectors. They enable people to offer their skills and time in return for goods or services using specially designed Community Credit notes. We aim to break down the exclusion that people with learning disabilities can face and provide the support they need to make their volunteering a success, whether the aim is going into paid work or learning new skills. If you know of any appropriate volunteering opportunities, please let us know. We would also like to hear from you who have skills to offer such as art, knitting or woodwork, in return for Community Credits.
