Wonderful day spent at Y&H Regional council in Leeds, full of energizing and engaged conversations about winning the ballot on pay and funding next term. We also formally unveiled our regional banner made by the talented Ed Hall. Seen here are the officers and secretary of regional council: (L-R) Anne, Lesley, Kate and Martin. We also took a delegate picture to celebrate Pride. Next picture is of Grey and Lee, our wonderful LGBTQ+ organisers, who've done incredible work this year.

Regional Secretary Kate then went on to the Yorkshire and Humber support staff conference, so brilliant to see so many engaged and active support staff activists involved in the NEU.

Yorkshire and Humber LGBTQ+ organisers are rightly proud of a superb turnout at the first ever pride in at the weekend. A great event; they recruited members, gave out our brilliant merchandise, and had important conversations with children and adults. We were the trade union there, and we were by far the most popular stall! 🌈

Today marks 100 years since the UK General Strike of 1926, when over 1.7 million workers walked out in solidarity with coal miners facing wage cuts, longer hours and worsening conditions. For nine days, transport, printing, heavy industry and more ground to a halt as working people stood together to defend fair pay and dignity at work.

We at NEU Yorkshire & Humber hope you enjoy the bank holiday tomorrow, and it's worth remembering that time off, fairer conditions and many of the rights we now take for granted were won through that same trade union fight.

For educators, that fight is real, and it's here. An unfunded, below inflation pay award, when inflation is expected to hit 6%, will take our schools from crisis to collapse .

Final preparations today for our Y&H in on Friday, and look how much we've managed to cram into the goody bags! These aren't just things to have and show off how proud you are to be in your workplace, they're also filled with essential knowledge kits to enable you to negotiate and campaign for better workplaces where you are. Our reps are the best, and we can't wait to see you on Friday!

Oh the things you find when you're clearing out the Regional Office, getting ready for an office move! There are heaps of these and they were all hidden in boxes. We love how the early (pre early 70s) reports were all cloth bound books. Rest assured, these pieces of history will have pride of place in their new home!

Preparations for our wonderful Yorkshire and Humber on 1st May are well underway and the goodie bags are being packed. As well as a comprehensive reps knowledge kit packed with toolkits to enable you to fight for better terms and conditions, you'll get specialist training from experienced lay officers, and some other things to help you in your role too. Who doesn't love a goodie bag?

As the spring light returns, we’re wishing all our members and communities a joyful Easter and a peaceful Passover.

Both celebrations, in different ways, tell stories of renewal, liberation and hope. They remind us that change is possible, and that new beginnings are something we build together.

We know this break is hard-earned. After a demanding term, we hope you find time to rest, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most. When we return, we do so with renewed energy and shared purpose. Together, we’ll continue our campaign to . Working together we are stronger.
