8-14th of June is week the theme “Giving Loneliness a Voice “
Check out the Marmalade Trust
Social isolation can have massive impacts on our health both physically and mentally and particularly is we are struggling following a significant life loss .
If someone has cared for a person that has sadly died they not only lose that person but their purpose. They have often lost contact with others due to their caring role , that’s another loss ,all of which are grief . They can be very lonely.
Carers come in all forms be it payed professionals, unpaid family members, volunteer befrienders , neighbors and friends and organisations that are supportive.
If this resonates there are small steps you can do- ask a friend for support - all these that said “if you need anything let me know “. Choose one you know genuinely would .
OR , if it’s not you but you know someone , you can encourage or support them . Offer to help them find places to support them , offer to go with them on their first visit or look online with them .
If you’re in our website @ www.foundmyniche.co.uk which has our schedule for our grief cafes , walk n talks and wellness workshops all in Doncaster . We always offer a “listening’ear”
and are more than happy to signpost or help you look for support. Feel free to reach out .
Also The Good Grief Trust whose website has a nation map of cafes plus walks talks
The Chatty Cafe Scheme UK is worth checking out . DonnyDot has lots of local information.
Your GP surgery should have details of social prescribers who have list of local organizations.
LOSS DOESN’T HAVE TO BE LONELY
