On Wednesday we saw the 3D printed front splitter that one of our members is working on.

Well, check out the new pictures of the finished splitter. You have to agree that it looks amazing. Great paint job, you can't see where the parts were welded together. It looks like the real deal.

The final picture shows how it looks once fastened to the car.

This is another example of an amazing project that one of our members has been working on.

If you feel inspired by these pictures, why don't you come along to our next meetup, which will be on 17th June @ 6.30pm ( members arrive from 6pm and help setting up the room ). Drop us a message so we know to expect you.

Have you been waiting for the post about what we did last meetup? Here it is.

This week there was a lot of 3D printing related projects.

First we have this old camera that had no lens mount. A replaceable mount was designed and printed so the lens can be removed for transport and also changed for other lenses. The black printed parts blend in nicely with the camera body.

A member designed and printed a custom screw fastener.

Another member brought a part that he printed at home. It is a front splitter for a car ( sitting just underneath the bumper ). As this is pretty big, he printed in multiple small pieces and then connected them by melting fine mesh over the joints and then sanded them down. Now the splitter needs to be primed and painted and it will look lovely.

We also had a 3D printed re-enactment prop gun that some visitors brought in that was sanded and painted.

Can't forget the sewing of course. They have been busy again working on various projects. We will try cover some of their projects a bit more in depth next week.

All these pictures are nice and informative, but you know what is even better? Being there in person, watching people make, create and mend. Able to hear the interaction between members to help each other to solve issues and problems, and of course socialise and have a chat.

If you would like to come for a visit, please let us know and we can arrange a time for you to come. Just drop us a message.

Our next meetup will be next week Wednesday 17th .

Our next meetup is tomorrow at 6pm @ Scout Hut, Cumberland Avenue, Intake. We still have a few empty chairs during our meetups, could that missing person be you?

We are always looking for new hobbyists to join our group. Be it for sewing, 3D printing, electronics, miniature / model painting or whatever else. Doesn't matter if you are a pro or someone that just started, all that matters is that you are a hobbyist and enjoy creating, making and mending things.

As a group we provide many tools such as soldering irons, 3D printer, sewing machines, all sorts of electronic components, laptops and more that our members can use during our meetups. Our members are also pretty easy going and very sociable. If you get stuck while working on your project, there is usually always someone around that can help and advice you.

Send us a message if you are thinking about coming :)

Another Wednesday has passed which means we have and quick meetup recap.

We had a visitor with us from the South Yorkshire Climate Alliance to discuss an interesting project. We will need to see how we can support the project in the future.

Members have chosen to work on projects including sewing, 3D printing, electronics, photography and LEGO.

A member brought in a little hand cranked sewing machine he bought from ebay. It looks very nice and is making some very nice stiches.

We inspected a little sound meter that has been damaged by leaking batteries. The damage has been extensive covering a multiplexer IC, multiple capacitors and destroying one capacitor. There are also signs that 1 or 2 tracers have been affected. We will have to see if we will attempt to repair it or not.

We had a couple of 3D prints going on. In the picture you can see a little box for some cards. The other print was a second version of the lens holder that we printed last week. Version 2 looks a lot nicer than version 1.

Currently we have we have tools and equipment for 8ish different projects. The group is always considering how we can expand the offering. Recently we started the miniature painting group. We would like to extend that to all sorts of model making including things like airfix models and even model railway models.

So if you are working on models at home, why not considering joining our group and work with other like minded people. If you are interested, send us a message so we can arrange for you to come for a visit to have a look around.

Our next meetup will be Wednesday 11th June 6pm - 9pm. You got a week to decide what project you want to work on ;)

Here is a better picture of the metal furnace that we had donated to us. We will try to clean it up and make it look nicer. Coal goes into the top and there is a blower underneath that blows air into the coal creating a pretty hot furnace.

Also don't forget our meetup this Wednesday at 6pm. If you are interested in our group and want to come for a visit to see us in action, please message us and we will arrange a time.

While it is important to focus on the current needs of the group, the committee also think about the future, what the group could do at some point.

Wood and metal working is on that list of things we can do at some point. Every so often we manage to get hold of tools that will be helpful to get started. We keep those tools in storage.

So far we've got a scroll saw, a pillar drill and now also a coal furnace.

We had some very warm days recently but fortunately the temperatures dropped enough for us to continue meeting as usual.

Members have been busy working on a wide variety of interesting projects. Sewing remains popular as well as 3D printing and miniature painting. We also saw progress on another LEGO build while a new cross-stitch project was started.

A regular member who works with electronics experimented with a new e-paper display - a particularly impressive one. Last week there was also an attempt to set up a retro arcade system and some newly installed software now seems to be working very well.

Other members spent time investigating a faulty hard drive where the controller board had been replaced in an effort to recover it. Although the repair has not yet been successful, work is continuing.

If you are looking for a communal space to work on your hobby or craft projects alongside likeminded people, then we might be the perfect place for you. Whether your interests are in arts, crafts, electronics, model making, sewing, painting, 3D printing, or something entirely different, we welcome a wide range of creative projects. Send us a message to tell us a little about what you would like to work on and we can arrange a visit so you can see the group in action for yourself.

Next meetup will be on 3rd July.

Do you own a cricut machine? We would like your advice.

We are interested to hear how well the cricut machine works for things like screen printing ( creating the screens ), card making etc.

Are they really as good as they say? Is it easy to cut your own custom designs? Are supplies expensive? Are they reliable?

We are looking for any insight - good or bad, any tricks or hacks you have come across and anything else that you feel worth sharing.

Thanks
