Northern Battle of Britain Memorial

On 11th November 2018 our PATRON SHERIDAN SMITH performed this song during the Royal Festival of Remembrance at the Albert Hall. Sheridan has been a supporter of the Memorial for many years and it was an emotional moment when we witnessed this truly wonderful performance. The song was written about her late father Colin a proud former Army National Serviceman and friend of the Trustees of the Memorial.

BATTLE OF BRITAIN PARADE

On the 21st of September, Bawtry cadets attended the Battle of Britain parade held at the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum.

The parade was to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

The evening began with a parade around the museum and a march past the Northern Memorial to the Battle of Britain.

A series of readings of testimonies and stories concluded the parade, presented by RAF Air Cadets, their staff, and the Padre.

Excellent Battle of Britain 85th Anniversary Parade and Sunset Service at the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum. We owe a great debt of thanks to the Museum Trustees and Staff, Rev Tom Brown and the excellent Royal Air Force Cadets and Officers of the South and West Yorkshire Wing Air Training Corps. Well done to everyone that took part !

Today we mark the 85th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain with a Sunset Service at the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum . The Service starts at 5.30pm and will feature a March past with Cadets and Officers from the South and West Yorkshire Wing of the Royal Air Force Cadets.

Delighted to welcome "Where Poppies Blow" to South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum. This excellent organisation paid tribute to the lives lost in the Battle of Britain and the Falklands Conflict with several posts including photographs and a video of the Museum.

To celebrate the 85th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain we have installed a superb bench featuring the dates of the battle and Churchills famous "never before in the field of human conflict" quote. The centrepiece shows three pilots between a Hurricane and a Spitfire. They are surrounded by a display of poppies which complete this amazing work of art. Many thanks to the designer Chris Kennedy from Grantham based Rolls & Scrolls and Rob Oliver from the South West Battle of Britain Memorial for the introduction. The picture shows Trustees Howard Johnson and Bill Fern taking delivery of the bench on the Memorial site at the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum.
