Our Gifts in Kind team are getting into the Halloween spirit! 👻

While they're looking a little spookier than usual, we thought we'd take the opportunity to introduce the team behind Gifts in Kind.

The team works with businesses across the UK to give surplus, unwanted and imperfect stock a second chance. By partnering with retailers, brands and manufacturers, they help keep products in use for longer, reduce waste and generate vital funds to support Barnardo's work with children, young people and families.

Take a look through the photos to meet the team and learn a little more about the important work they do behind the scenes. 🎃✨

Halloween, but make it sustainable 🎃

How cute are these pumpkins, handmade from un-sellable jumpers? Instead of going to waste, these pre-loved materials have been given a spooky new lease of life.

Who knew old knitwear could look so gourd-geous? 👻

The real horror of Halloween isn’t the ghosts, it’s the waste. Millions of costumes are thrown away every year, most brand new. If you’re shopping, choose pre-loved, and if you won’t wear your costume again, make sure to donate it for your wallet, the planet, and someone else to enjoy.

Be there for children everywhere. Be more Gladys.

This month, look out for our Legacy TV advert which raises awareness about Gift in Wills, and how they support children and young people.

Our advert features the character Gladys, who leaves a gift in her Will which could support Barnardo’s in many ways, such as to support young carers, improve children's mental health, provide homes for young people leaving care and build stronger families through our family centres.

It will be shown across a variety of channels including Channel 4, Film4, More4 and Sky channels throughout March, which is also Free Wills Month. If you’d like to find out more about writing your Will for free this month, you can find out more here - https://www.barnardos.org.uk/get-involved/donate/leaving-gift-your-will/free-will-services
