Quaker Wood looks beautiful this time of year 🍂 ☀️
It was the perfect morning for our monthly work party to come together and finish clearing the ditches and cut back overgrowth at our Blackthorn tunnel! 💪

Well done to all involved today 🙏 Our volunteers always meet the first Saturday of the month from half nine to midday, with new volunteers of any age and ability always welcome!

Our volunteers had a windy start (and middle, and end!) to the day today 💨

But they persevered and were able to get our ditches cleared and cut back, and our paths tidied by the end of the morning 🌳 💪

Our volunteer sessions are the first Saturday of every month from half nine til midday. New members are always welcome, and there’s no signup required, just come along on the day to get involved! 🙏

This morning our volunteers were hard at work across The Wood ☀️ Together we managed to:

- Cut our car park hedges ✂️ 🌳 ☑️
- Repair our fence 🔨 🔧 ☑️
- Scythe along the ditch 🌱 ☑️
- Finish repairing and fitting our much-missed woodland bench! 🪵 🪑 ☑️

Huge thanks to everyone who came along today, our work parties are always on the first Saturday of the month from 9:30 to Midday, with everyone always welcome! 🙏

🌳 This morning our team:

- Finished scything the Meadow ☑️
- Cleaned up the car park ☑️
- Filled the gaps in our dead-hedging ☑️
- Cleared and piled all our cuttings away! ☑️

A very successful morning all round, massive thanks to everyone who came along to help out! 🙏

New volunteers are always welcome at our Work Parties, which meet at The Wood from 9:30 til around midday ☀️

Scything season began today at Quaker Wood! 🌳 Our volunteers headed to the Wildflower meadow to begin the process of cutting and clearing the overgrowth, alongside completing other maintenance tasks across the site.

We also began our programme of seed collecting 🌾 to gather and prepare the seeds to help spread more wildflowers across the site and improve biodiversity.

The white flower seen below is White Campion, and the purple one is Knapweed 🌸

New volunteers of any age and ability are always welcome to our sessions, which meet at The Wood on the first Saturday of every month from 9:30am to around midday! 🙏

This morning our volunteers braved the wet weather to tackle various jobs at the Wood. 🌧️

Some volunteers tidied the car park, paths, seating areas and around the time capsule, whilst others commenced our scything season by clearing overgrowth along the Western edge of the site! 🌳

Thankfully the rain soon turned to sun, creating some beautiful sights for us all to enjoy when we sat down for elevenses ☀️

We always welcome anyone who may be interested in joining us at our Work Parties, which meet on the first Saturday of every month from 9:30 til midday! 🙏
