Have you done your Big Garden Bird Watch yet?
Just one hour, anytime this weekend to observe and record any birds that land in your garden.
It's an opportunity to pause, to connect with nature and contribute to one of the UKs best loved Citizen Science projects.
Numbers of many once common garden birds have rapidly declined since the 70s and by taking part in the Garden Bird Watch this weekend, you can provide valuable data as to the state of nature and so help to inform policy about how and what we can all do to help all species to recover and thrive.
You still have a couple of hours of daylight so, get the kettle on, find a comfy spot by a window with a notebook and pen and settle down for a blissfull hour of all the joy and beauty that nature provides for free!
🐦 only count birds that land in your garden
🐦 only count multiple birds of one species if you see them all at once, otherwise it could be the same bird.
🐦 one uninterrupted hour in a uk garden
You can find guidance on which birds you're seeing and submit your results to the RSPB here:

What have I seen?
Blackbird x 2
House Sparrow x 6
Dunnock x 4
Robin x 3
Collared Dove x 2
Starling x 2
Magpie x 1
Coal Tit x 2
Blue Tit x 2
Tree Sparrow x 3
Carrion Crow x 1
Jackdaw x 1
Goldfinch x 1
Great Tit x 1
I'm chuffed with my results as when I moved into my house just over a year ago, I only ever saw Starlings and House Sparrows. I've been nurturing the birds by placing nesting boxes and planting wildlife friendly species so that effort is obviously paying off.
Top Tip! Guy Garvey's show on
this afternoon is dedicated to the Big Garden Birdwatch so a perfect soundtrack 💚
Good luck and would love to hear what you've seen.
