TRAIN - Inspiring Young People

TRAIN - Inspiring Young People At TRAIN, we're dedicated to championing the potential of young people in Didcot and Wallingford.

Our mission is to empower them to thrive, make informed decisions, and embrace their unique strengths. At TRAIN we work to seek out, engage and empower young people and particularly those who may be going through a difficult time or engaging in anti-social behaviour. Our service is open to young people aged 11-18 who live and/or go to school in Didcot or Harwell. We are made up of a small staff te

am, 6 trustees and a wonderful team of volunteers, as well as the many young people who take part in our activities! All we do is focused on boosting young people’s confidence, skills and wellbeing, helping them overcome any limiting barriers and build brighter futures for themselves. Over the years we have offered support through regular:
- Detached and outreach around Didcot
- 1:1 and group mentoring
- Youth Participation and Social Action
- Workshops
- Trips and residentials
- Youth club
- Digital support and activities (over Covid-19)

We've got a Young Men's Club running at TRAIN, and we'd love more young men to come along.

Sessions are relaxed and sociable. There's pool, games, and plenty of time to just hang out with others their age in a safe, friendly space.

For young men who want something more, there's also the option to work towards an AQA unit award. It's a recognised qualification that goes on a CV, and it's built into the session so it never feels like a classroom.

If you're interested, or know a young man in school year 7-11 who might benefit, feel free to share this or get in touch with us for more details.

Earlier this week one of our young ambassadors, Callum, spoke to Didcot Town Council about his experience of TRAIN and why youth work matters for the town.

Incredibly, the councillors agreed to award a £12,000 grant to support our Didcot youth centre!!!

Huge well done to Callum for speaking so well, and thank you to Didcot Town Council for backing young people and investing in local youth work. 💙
