Blewbury Amazons Girls F.C

Blewbury Amazons Girls F.C Oxfordshire’s first Girls only Football Club. Established 2021. Our emphasis is on developing the whole child in a family like environment!

In Greek mythology, the Amazons were a race of female warriors and hunters who matched men in physical agility and strength and were noted for their skills, courage and pride. As a football club we aim to develop our Amazons as footballers but also help them become powerful, confident and independent women.

Another fantastic weekend of tournament action for our girls!

U11 Falcons
The Falcons won the Harwell and Hendred tournament with some of best football they’ve put together!

After a sluggish start first game everything seemed to click afterwards and was a well deserved victory for the girls!

U13 Avengers
The Avengers had a great morning at the Carterton tournament. They were unbeaten in the group stage finishing second and scoring some great goals along the way.

They were beaten in the cup semi-final by the eventual winners.

So proud of their teamwork, commitment and attitude. Well done girls!!

U14 Panthers
The Panthers made the long trip to Longford Park and made it all the way to the cup final before losing to Raptors, a team from Milton Keynes.

The stand in coaches were incredibly proud of how the girls battled hard for one another, came through a penalty shoot out and only lost by the odd goal in the final.

U16 Assasins
The Assassins also played at Carterton on Saturday and did well but lost in the Cup Final against a very good Cheltenham Town team.

An older u16 Assassins played in the Launton Ladies tournament. Topped their group and were unlucky to lose out in the quarter finals.

A fun and brilliant weekend for loads of our teams in tournament action. The weather may not have been on their side but that didn’t dampen their spirits!

U9 Nemeses
Another tournament, another unbeaten run through the group stages… and another heartbreak in the final for U9 Nemeses😞

The girls were desperately unlucky to miss out, losing 1–0 in extra time to Abingdon in the cup final at Cumnor.

On the balance of play, we more than matched them and can feel hard done by not to come away with the win-but that’s football.

The hair glitter may not quite have brought us the winning trophy, but the girls certainly sparkled out on the pitch.

Their effort, teamwork and determination were outstanding, and they should be incredibly proud of themselves-just as the coaches are!

U10 Phantoms
The Phantoms had an early start at Launton yesterday. Very well ran tournament.

Girls played well in general but struggling for goals again. 3 draws in the group weren’t enough to see us through to the knockouts unfortunately.

U11 Falcons
The Falcons came away plate winners at Didcot.

Very tough group just missing out on a place in the cup semis after conceding only 1 goal all tournament.

The girls went on to win the semi and final comfortably against Goring and Barton B.

U16 Assasins
The Assassins entered 2 teams into the Oxford City JPL tournament.

The Blues topped their group and were unlucky to lose in the quarter finals on penalties. Absolutely brilliant performance.

The Pinks were off the pace in the group stages and struggled to show what they are capable of, putting them into the plate where they found their rhythm and came away WINNERS of the Plate Competition.

Do you have a 13 year old daughter who’d like to get into football or already plays but is looking for a new team?

Consider joining the Avengers! We’re looking for new players to join us ahead of moving up to 11-a-side matches in September.

We’re part of the Blewbury Amazons, an all female club.

The Avengers are a friendly, welcoming group made up of players from across the local area, including Blewbury, Harwell, Cholsey and Wallingford.

We pride ourselves on creating a fun, supportive and inclusive environment where every girl feels valued, encouraged and confident both on and off the pitch.

Our coaching philosophy focuses on enjoyment of football alongside the development of fundamental skills and confidence. We believe that girls learn best when they are having fun, and we support this with equal game time for all players on match days. This approach has helped us build a strong track record of developing players while maintaining a positive team spirit.

We train on Wednesday evenings, with summer sessions held in Brightwell and winter training based at Harwell School. Matches are played on Saturday mornings.

A relatively quiet weekend on the tournament front for the Amazons with just the U11 Falcons playing and despite battling like true Amazons, they were beaten 1-0 by familiar foes Barton in the final at Oxford Blackbirds.

Playing yesterday in the heat, the girls were so unlucky not to get the last game over the line but after losing our only sub to a broken finger early on, the girls gave absolutely everything in a very strong tournament with Atlanta and many A league teams in it so massive credit to the girls for going so far. 9 games played in the league and 2 more to get the the final was a massive ask for the girls. Proud coaches today as always.

Elsewhere, well done to the U15 Eagles who picked up their B League runners up medals!

A huge well done to our of our girls who played in the sweltering heat in the Cholsey Bluebirds tournament this weekend!...

A huge well done to our of our girls who played in the sweltering heat in the Cholsey Bluebirds tournament this weekend!

U9 Nemesis
Top effort from the U9 girls! ☀️⚽

We topped the group once again, finishing unbeaten, but unfortunately bowed out in the semi-finals to Abingdon on penalties -a tough one to take.

Huge credit to the girls though; in scorching conditions and with only a bare 6-player squad, they gave absolutely everything from start to finish.

U10 Phantoms
A great tournament also for the Phantoms!

They suffered a narrow 2-1 loss in their plate semi final against the eventual winners Oxford city.

Awesome effort from the girls in very hot weather. Gave everything right up to the final whistle.

U11 Falcons
Yet again a very hot one, but the girls got off to a flyer winning our first 3 games comfortably, playing some beautiful football.

The heat and the many sweets consumed 😂 seemed to have got to them for the last remaining league games and weren’t quite at it but progressed to the cup knockouts.

The girls found some form again but Unfortunately they lost in the semi final to Barton on penalties after beating their other team in the quarter final.

Great morning of football to start off our tournament season.

Whatever the scoreline success=smiles. 👏
