Hi, I thought I’d introduce myself again my name is Millie and I’ve run hike4happiness since 2021. It originally started when I signed up to do a charity trek in Iceland for Parkinson’s UK which my mum was diagnosed with in 2017, I wanted to use this page to track my training and help spread awareness and raise money.
I started hosting events to bring people together and it’s grown into a wonderful community. I was sharing every aspect of mine and my mums journey when in October 2023 our family broke down and my mum was readmitted to hospital and diagnosed with MSA. The last year and a half has been a challenge, I’ve struggled to come to terms with it all and have put all my time and energy into mum.
I’m now 26 and feeling a little lost, I’ve struggled with anxiety from a very young age but was diagnosed with depression in 2020 after suffering for a long time. Life is crazy busy, I live in a barn in the middle of the countryside with my boyfriend, we have 3 dogs, 8 chickens and 60,000 bee’s. I am a self employed textile designer which gives me freedom. My mum is currently in a nursing home, we see her everyday. I love to run, bake and read, but most of all I love being home.
I’m at a stage in life where I’m feeling behind, I don’t know what my purpose is. I’ve realised being outside is healing for me so I’m here to promote being outside, go on that UK adventure, hike that tor, sit in that sun and appreciate the fresh air.
What does 2025 have in store for H4H?
With event ideas flying around my head I’ve decided to dedicate this year to my biggest challenge yet at the end of the year running 8 miles for 8 consecutive days in 8 UK cities all for 🧡 I will continue to host a charity walk and football match with more information on that soon.
I’d love to hear some more ideas and if you’d like to team up with to host some outdoor events?
Hike4happiness is for my mum, a place I hope everyone can feel safe to talk🤍
