Brilliant time had by our large family group in just over 2 hours. Interactive challenges and games enjoyed by all the kids (5, 2 and 18 months) plus the adults if we're honest. Good variety of displays. Very informative. Would recommend to all." Angela B, Lancashire, visited October 2016.

Happy Wiltshire Day!
We met Steve from BBC Wiltshire at the White Horse on Roundway earlier as he interviewed our Director, David Dawson. Good luck to Steve, who is spending his day driving around Wiltshire visiting all the White Horses in honour of Wiltshire Day! We also had some very curious visitors desperate to be interviewed too...

This we have glass pieces; six pieces which were found in one bag.
2 from the Roman period, both being green coloured and hexagonal shaped, 1 glass armlet fragment probably from Meare La Tene 3 period, 1 possible tessera fragment also in green, 1 half of a blue glass bead with snaking white glass infusion and not closely dateable and suggested as Iron Age to Saxon, plus 1 globular glass blob, all items being marked with previous numbers. From the Marlborough College Collection, transferred to the Wiltshire Archaeological and Natural History Society in 1981.

This perforated axe head made of tourmaline granite with red and olive-green markings, was excavated from a Beaker burial to the south of Woodhenge in 1926.
A favourite in our collection, as Helen explains in the video. It is a beautifully formed axe head, with no signs of use… and it also looks like a block of cheese…

Introducing Threads of Wiltshire!
Our new textile project on display in our lift lobby.
This project has been made possible by collaborating with Wiltshire Centre for Independent Living Life Connectors who work directly with survivors of domestic abuse.

By exploring landscape through a means of colours, textures and styles, the group were taught by a professional artist, whilst being able to access wellbeing support via the Life Connectors.

Participants immersed themselves in experimenting, finding joy in creating, and finding their own unique expression on the Wiltshire Landscapes!

On display until the Autumn!

Create space for our new adult art & craft group!
Introducing Create Space, a group for adults who would like to explore art for their wellbeing.
Our first session will be Tuesday 9th May, 10:30am – 12:30pm and will explore the theme of botanicals. The aim of this group is to focus on the joy of creating, experimenting, connecting, and making mistakes.
Together we will explore new techniques, learn from one another and build connections.
These are trial based sessions, to understand what the community would want from a regular session.
