This event was more than just a golf day – it was a fundraising endeavour for AAA, who are committed to increasing access to the arts.

Earlier this week, The Mayor of Derry City & Strabane District, Cllr Sandra Duffy, Joined us at Millennium Forum to celebrate the news that we have received Makaton Friendly Status.

We are delighted to be recognised as the first theatre in Ireland to achieve this special accreditation. This award recognises the work that we are continuing to do in order to ensure that our venue is fully accessible to all our patrons

Thanks to funding from the Bank of Ireland Begin Together Arts Fund and Business to Arts, The Millennium Forum’s popular Access project, Moves & Melodies, is going on tour.

The project offers older patrons the opportunity to dance, reminisce and sing and features an afternoon of song and dance.

We are so excited to be taking this project out into the community. We couldn’t achieve this without the help of our Access sponsors and funding partners Bank of Ireland Begin Together Arts Fund in partnership with Business to Arts , Specsavers, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Access to Arts for All.

New exciting partnership to our amazing Energy Train project

This new sponsorship will support the development of our Access project, Energy Train, a training project for Young DJs who are experiencing limited physical, sensory and/or a learning disability.

We are beyond excited to be awarded the ‘Commitment to Diversity Award’ at the recent Arts & Business Awards 2022. We were also highly commended for the ‘Creative Community Engagement Award’. Both awards recognise the amazing collaboration between YOUR theatre and its Access Partner, Specsavers (Derry/Londonderry), in delivering a range of access projects and services throughout the past year. We are very grateful to our Mayor, Cllr Sandra Duffy, for helping us celebrate this fantastic recognition.

Winning awards last night

We were delighted to win the Commitment to Diversity award at the Arts & Business NI 2022 awards with our partners Specsavers. We were also highly commended for the award of Creative Engagement, these awards are for the amazing work we are doing with access initiatives, and for working to put accessible arts at the heart of everything we do. The ceremony was a brilliant showcase for the arts in N.I and for the business collaborations that support the arts. Congratulations to all that were nominated.
