Caina Healey Try a Tri ❤️

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Healey family for allowing us to organise this fantastic event every year in Caina’s name! Thank you to her mammy and Daddy, Nuala and Brian, her sister Maureen and brother Mark. We appreciate your support every year. ❤️🙏🏻

If you would like to donate to Caina’s fund to help us deliver this event again next year, then please use the link below! The children love it and it gives them great opportunity to keep fit and learn all about Caina’s life! 🫶

Huge shout out also to Caina’s friends in Abu Dhabi who fundraise every year in Caina’s name! ❤️🙏🏻 Without you all, this would never have happened! 🫶🫶

We are pleased to mark the launch of Health for Life this Thursday, following the merger of the Old Library Trust and the Bogside and Brandywell Health Forum.

Both organisations have a long and established history of working to improve health and wellbeing across Derry and beyond. While there has been collaboration over a number of years, the case for formally bringing the organisations together has strengthened in recent times.

This step reflects a shared vision, strong leadership from both boards, and a commitment to protecting and sustaining vital community services in what continues to be a challenging environment for the community and voluntary sector.

The merger process has been supported by the National Lottery Community Fund, the Department of Finance and Development Trusts NI, allowing both organisations to plan carefully for the future.

Health for Life brings services together under one name, creating a more connected organisation and making it easier for people to access support. It also represents an exciting opportunity to further develop services and respond to changing needs.

Each week, thousands of people engage with services across both organisations, including children and young people, families, adults and older people. This development is focused on ensuring that support continues to be available now and into the future.

Health for Life will deliver a wide range of community-based services locally, across the North West and further afield, working alongside communities and partners to support health and wellbeing, address inequalities and strengthen community health services.

📸 50 amazing photos from the Caina Healey Children's Try-A-Tri

Over 100 children from 11 local primary schools took part in the challenge! 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♀️

In memory of Caina Healey, this event gave young people the chance to challenge themselves, support each other, have fun, and celebrate Caina's life in a positive way.

After weeks of training and school visits with Danny Quigley and the team, the children turned up ready and gave it everything. The atmosphere was incredible from start to finish!

Huge thanks to Caina's family, Apex Housing Association, Mayor Ruairí McHugh, Micky Doherty, Templemore Sports Complex, Pulse EMS, the volunteers and all the amazing schools who took part: Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir, Long Tower PS, Nazareth House PS, Holy Child PS, Model Primary, Rosemount PS, St. Thérèse's PS, Hollybush PS, Steelstown Primary School, St. Patrick's PS and St Eugene's Primary School.

We're already looking forward to next year!

Old Library Trust and Bogside & Brandywell Health Forum are coming together as one organisation - Health for Life.

For more than 25 years, we have supported people across the community with services that make a real difference to health and wellbeing.

Coming together is a really positive step - making it easier to access first-class community health services, with more joined-up support for people of all ages.

This is an exciting opportunity to strengthen services and continue delivering for people into the future.
