The People Before Profit Student Society stands in solidarity with the UCU lecturers currently on strike. As active socialists, we support the struggle for fair pay and improved working conditions. For too long, dedicated teaching staff in our 3rd level sector have endured a steady erosion of their pay and working conditions. This has had a detrimental impact on their wellbeing and, by extension, the quality of education at Magee.

As students, we recognise that their working conditions directly shape our learning conditions. Therefore, we call on the student union and all student societies to join us in a show of solidarity with the striking lecturers. Let us demonstrate our support by cancelling the Freshers’ Fair and standing beside them on the picket lines, sending a clear message of solidarity and support for decent pay and fair working conditions.
