remember your family & friends at Christmas
Christmas 2020 will be celebrated in extraordinary times and during the pandemic we think it’s more important than ever that people from the city and beyond can symbolically remember family and friends and our hopes for the future, whilst at the same time raising funds for local charities to support those in need. Four local charities will benefit from the funds raised at the Tree of Remembrance. The beneficiary charities are AWARE, Foyle Foodbank, Foyle Hospice & HURT.
Tree will be operational for 24 days, launching on Tuesday 1st December at 12 noon and closing on 24th December with a blessing of all the ribbons. Tree will be located at Foyleside Shopping Centre at the Orchard Street entrance. When the Tree is open people are encouraged to write a short message to their loved one on a ribbon which is affixed to the Tree. There is no cost for this but people who can are encouraged to make a donation directly into the donation box on the table.
Due to the challenges that the pandemic has presented, people from anywhere in the world will be able to electronically fill in a ribbon and donate. Their ribbons will be physically added to the Tree.
