We are deeply concerned and angered by the violent and racist behaviour witnessed the past two nights.
There is no justification for attacks on homes, families or communities. What we have seen is not about justice or protection, it's intimidation and racism, and it must be called out for what it is.
We condemn the horrific incident in Belfast and stand with the victim and his family at this difficult time, but we must also be clear: one person’s actions can never be used to label or punish entire communities. Racism and collective blame have no place in our society.
We stand in full support of our new comer and migrant communities and we are particularly heart broken and ashamed that a colleague and friend has had to speak publicly about the fear and reality of raising Black sons. The fact that any parent feels the need to make a statement like this is deeply troubling and shocking. We hear you, we stand with you, and we will challenge any narrative that puts your children, or any child at risk.
As a youth service, we stand with all right‑thinking, tolerant and compassionate people. Our role is to support young people, to build understanding, and to create spaces where everyone feels safe and valued.
We will support all our young people, all our sons and daughters, without exception.
Now, more than ever, we must choose community over division, respect over hatred, and unity over fear.
