We had a great night last night at the Fore Get Me Not Golf Waltz, a nine hole social golf competition at Dereham Golf Club.
10 teams took to the dancefloor and danced it out with between 1 and 4 scores counting per hole, based on a secret waltz pattern not revealed until the end.

The night raised an amazing ยฃ230 thanks to the generosity of those who came along. Thank you all so much.

The competition was very closely fought, but congratulations to our well deserved winning teams
1) Christine Webster's team
2) Helen Burrage's team
3) Sheila Brightwell's team

Also congratulations to John Hurn and Kay Bates who won on squares draw on the night.

This month's Fore Get Me Not Golf dementia cafe saw, for the first time in months, the return of thunder and rain (albeit much needed!)
Our members were still able to get out on the course and the putting green between showers, before coming together in the clubhouse for tea, cake and bingo!

A massive thank you goes out to our session volunteers and those supporters who kindly donate cakes. Without these wonderful people we wouldn't be able to provide these wonderful sessions each month. If you are able to spare any time to help keep these sessions going, please get in touch.

It's time to take your partners and get on the dancefloor for the Fore Get Me Not Golf Waltz.

This 9 hole social golf competition will see teams of four take to the course. On each hole, between 1 and 4 of the best scores will count towards the team score. The twist? No one knows the waltz pattern until the band stops playing! You can assume that it won't be 1-2-3-4,1-2-3-4 ๐Ÿ˜€

Entry is only ยฃ3 a person and tee times are available between 4pm and 6pm on Friday 4th September. Booking is live now via HowDidIDo, so secure your spot for what promises to be a fun evening of golf.

There are prizes for the top three teams, and all proceeds will be going to Fore Get Me Not Golf, to help those living with dementia through the power of golf!

We went along to the dementia bus this morning and got to experience what it's like to live with dementia for just a few minutes.
It really brings home how life shattering this condition can be.
It was invaluable to help us understand some the challenges our members face on a daily basis.

If you get a chance to go along and have this experience, we highly recommend it. It's not fun and it's not comfortable, and that's really the point.

The dementia bus is at The Forum in today. We started early as there was so much interest in the experience! It's drop in until 4:10pm but we will be here until 4:30pm to talk to.

Did you know that 1 in 3 people are projected to be affected by dementia during their lifetime?

This free event offers a valuable opportunity to learn more about dementia, gain a better understanding of the challenges people living with dementia face, and discover how we can all provide better support to those around us now and in the future.

The Training2Care Virtual Dementia Tour Bus is an immersive, scientifically proven experiential training programme that simulates the physical and mental challenges of living with dementia, helping participants develop greater empathy and understanding.

Commissioned by Norfolk Care Careers, support and information will be available throughout the day, with experts on hand to answer your questions.

We encourage anyone interested in learning more about dementia and supporting their community to come along.

Our June Fore Get Me Not Golf dementia cafe took place this week in glorious sunshine, matching the fun everyone had out on the course, on the putting green, in the nets and chatting on the patio. The ice creams were especially welcome!

We are only able to put these free sessions on because of our amazing volunteers, and we urgently need more as the cafes become more popular.
If you can help on the third Thursday afternoon of each month or even the occasional session, please get in touch. If you have some golf experience that's great but not a requirement, as long as you can make a cup of tea and enjoy chatting to people ๐Ÿ˜€ Full training and support is provided free to all volunteers.
