📣Could You Spot the Signs?
Safeguarding training is critical because it empowers staff and volunteers to proactively identify, report, and prevent abuse or neglect. It ensures legal compliance, establishes safe organisational cultures, and equips individuals with the skills to handle sensitive disclosures confidently, ultimately preventing trauma and saving lives.

Passion is important. Knowledge is essential!

Which of these charity trustees is more responsible: an elected trustee or a representative trustee?

Many trustees join because they care about a cause, but not everyone fully understands the responsibilities that come with the role. Knowing your duties helps you support your charity effectively and avoid common governance pitfalls.

Whether you're new to the role or looking for a refresher, our Trustee Training on 8th September provides practical, jargon-free guidance to help you fulfil your responsibilities.

📶 Is rural England being left behind digitally?

New figures show that rural communities continue to face gaps in broadband and mobile coverage compared with urban areas.

With more people working from home and relying on online services, reliable connectivity is increasingly important for rural residents, businesses and community organisations.

2026 State of the Norfolk VCSE Sector Survey

The Empowering Communities Partnership wants to hear from charities, community groups and social enterprises across Norfolk about the challenges and opportunities facing the VCSE sector. Whether you are a small volunteer-led group or a larger organisation, your feedback will help shape future support, influence decision-makers and strengthen the case for investment in the sector. The survey covers topics including:
• Funding and financial sustainability
• Volunteer recruitment and retention
• Capacity and increasing demand
• Partnership working and networking
• The support your organisation needs to thrive
The survey takes around 15 minutes to complete and is open until 5:00pm on Monday 14th September 2026. Multiple responses from the same organisation are welcome, so please feel free to share it with colleagues, trustees and volunteers. Complete the survey here: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/t/QV3CFA

Are rising energy costs putting pressure on your organisation?

Many charities, community buildings and voluntary organisations know they need to reduce their energy costs, but aren't sure where to start—or who to trust for independent advice.

That's why we're pleased to partner with NRG Solutions, helping Norfolk's VCSE sector access expert support to better understand energy use, identify opportunities to save money, and plan for a more sustainable future.

The article includes two great examples of the impact this support can have:
âś… Parkside School in Norwich identified practical improvements to reduce energy waste and improve efficiency.
âś… East Winch Church recovered more than ÂŁ4,500 after incorrect energy billing was uncovered.

From energy audits and procurement to bill validation and one-to-one advice, NRG Solutions provide practical, jargon-free support tailored to your organisation.

Read the full article to find out how your organisation could benefit.
