Our volunteers bring different skills, talents and experiences, and together they make a wonderful team. 💛

While some lend a hand in the café, Nkechi, a maths teacher and grandmother, helps with admin work and comes in every week to carry out health and safety checks. Her care and commitment help keep our community space safe and welcoming for everyone.

Thank you, Nkechi, for your wonderful support and dedication! And thank you to all our volunteers for sharing their time and skills. It’s this community spirit, with everyone contributing in their own way, that makes our space so special.

🍦 Today we joined Bluebell Dairy’s Wholesale Tasting Day at the farm, sampling delicious ice creams and discovering new seasonal flavours!

We’re so proud of our partnership with this talented family business-and to bring their luxury, farm-made ice cream to our park visitors. It’s a special treat, crafted with care, that offers something beyond the usual mass-produced ice cream. 💙

From Great Taste Awards and international recognition for their ice cream to being named Family Farming Business of the Year at the 2023 British Farming Awards, they have so much to celebrate!

Veronica also put her taste buds to the test in the blind tasting competition! 🏆🍨 How many flavours do you think she correctly identified? 😎

It was amazing to see the Polish community sharing their rich culture at the Festival of Cultures and Languages we hosted at King George V Community Centre. From beautiful traditional costumes and delicious food to songs and language, it was a wonderful celebration of Polish heritage. 🇵🇱

A heartfelt thank you to the Polish School and the Polish community for bringing so much warmth and colour to the festival. You have every reason to be proud of your rich heritage- thank you for sharing it with us!

We look forward to welcoming you back next June for our second annual festival!

Meet Jan, whose smiling face has become such a lovely part of our days! 💛

Next year, Jan will have been a local resident for 40 years, yet before we reopened, she had never been inside the building. Since the reopening, she’s been here almost every single day!

Whenever she doesn’t pop in, we miss her smile and positivity. It’s so lovely to have you here, Jan. Thank you for brightening our days! 😊

It was lovely to welcome Ann and Dan to King George V today! 💚

They have lived in Littleover since 1972, just two years after the official opening of Clemson’s Playing Fields.

Looking through the old photographs brought back memories for Ann. She recognised the Mayor of Derby, Miss M. E. Grimwood-Taylor, in one of the pictures and remembered her attending the opening. Ann also used to organise a running club at King George V, so she has her own special connection to the park and pavilion.

They were so impressed by the changes! Thank you, Ann and Dan, for visiting and sharing your memories with us. 💚

It was lovely to welcome Carole Wragg, who has lived in Littleover since 1969, to our pavilion. 💚

Carole was so impressed by the changes and shared her memories of the pavilion and playing fields in the 1970s and 1980s, when they were vibrant, busy and such an important part of community life. She also spoke about how sad it was to see them become neglected over the years.

Hearing Carole’s memories reminds us why bringing this place back to life matters. It’s about restoring a space where people can come together, make memories and feel part of their community.
