Commanding Officer’s Christmas Message
As we approach the end of another busy and rewarding year, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone connected with Derby Sea Cadets a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Christmas is a time to reflect, and when I look back over the past year, I do so with immense pride in what our unit has achieved together.
This year has marked a significant milestone in our history with the renaming of our unit from TS Kenya to TS Ambush. This change represents more than just a new name; it reflects our identity, our ambitions, and the positive direction in which Derby Sea Cadets continues to move. The way cadets, staff, parents, and supporters embraced this change speaks volumes about the strength of our unit.
We have also been highly visible within the local community, attending and supporting numerous community events throughout the year. These activities have been invaluable in reinforcing our links with Derby and the surrounding area, allowing us to showcase the values of the Sea Cadets while giving something back to the community that supports us so well. Our cadets have represented the unit impeccably on every occasion.
Another major highlight of the year was our Royal Naval Parade (RNP) inspection, which proved to be a great success, with us achieving another burgee award (top 20% of units nationally). The inspection reflected the hard work, commitment, and professionalism of both cadets and volunteers. It was a clear demonstration of the high standards we strive to maintain and a testament to the effort put in week after week.
Looking ahead to the future, there is much to be excited about. We will continue to build on this year’s successes, expand our opportunities for cadets, strengthen our community presence, and further develop TS Ambush into a unit we can all be proud of. With the dedication and enthusiasm shown this year, I am confident that the future of Derby Sea Cadets is bright.
Finally, I would like to thank our cadets for their commitment and enthusiasm, our volunteers and staff for their tireless dedication, and our parents, supporters, and community partners for their continued support. I wish you all a safe, peaceful, and enjoyable Christmas, and I look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.
