The Depressed Cake Shop - Derby is a branch of the international Depressed Cake Shop project which aims to raise awareness of mental health issues & raise funds for charities associated with mental illness by baking & selling grey cakes at our stalls! The aim is to raise awareness of mental health issues, get people talking about mental health & raise funds for charities associated with mental ill
ness by baking & selling grey cakes at our stalls!
* Grey? What's it all about?! The project, while looking at all mental illnesses, has a focus on depression and the world can "look a little grey" when you are suffering from depression. All our baking is grey, at least on the outside, with some of the products having surprisingly bright insides. It was decided that the baked goods should be grey to create a stir in the press and bring attention to the project thought the unusual look of the produce!
* Cake Stalls! Following the success of our first stall in August 2013 at the Summer Food & Craft Fair at Broomfield Hall where we raised £365.75 for Derbyshire Mind, we hope to continue to have stalls selling our produce and raising money for charity. Watch this space!
* Bakers! We are a group made of many local bakers from Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, some amateur and some professional. If you are interested in joining us as a baker please join this group:
