ACE dance and music push forward with project to build a world class dance hub in Birmingham πŸ‘·πŸ”¨

The next chapter in the long creative history of ACE dance and music has taken a giant step closer with the purchase of the building that will become their new home.

The Company will relocate to 82 Milk Street, Birmingham, in the heart of the city over the next 12 months, repurposing a semi-derelict car repair workshop to become a world leading centre for dance and culture.

πŸ“’ ANNOUNCEMENT: City Arts to leave 11-13 Hockley πŸ“’

City Arts will be leaving 11-13 Hockley when our lease ends on 2 March 2026. After 12 years, this is a huge change for us and for the many artists, groups and communities who have called the space home. Economic pressures mean we can no longer remain in the building, and we know this will be felt deeply across Nottingham’s cultural landscape.

We are very proud of the work created within these walls. It has ranged from community workshops and festivals to exhibitions, opportunities for artist development and partnerships that span the city and beyond. Thank you to everyone who has stepped through our doors and shared their creativity with us. Although this chapter is coming to an end, the memories forged, impact made and relationships built here will continue to guide our work.

Our EMCCAN CEO has been over to Leicester recently attending some very impressive Serendipity Institute for Black Arts and Heritage Events.
Such as the fantastic premier of a new documentary and publication to celebrate the 40 years, and Anniversary of Leicester Caribbean Carnival. With the amazing Carol Leeming capturing the heart of the Leicester Caribbean Carnival Ltd in her penned poetry, placed so very timely during Black History Month too.

Then the conference yesterday on uniting Black Heritage Voices was filled with speakers, scholars, Dr's and professionals from the America's and the UK - all were exceptional.
Dr Carlos Correa Angulo. Professor Mark Sealy OBE, Dr Angelina Osborne, Dr Deborah Willis, Dr Francesca Sobande, Michelle Charters OBE, Dr Peggy Brunache, Dr Cheryl Finley, and Pawlet Brooks MBE..

An incredible powerful impacting day. Don't miss out next year.

EMCCAN main takeaway- 'collaboration is the Key' for the sustainability of Black Heritage.

Derby College thank you for inviting me to share my journey with your Yr 1 & Yr 2 students.

November is all about creative careers, and I had the opportunity to share how my firsthand working-class experience has shaped my education, my perspective on diversity, and how having a career has influenced my social mobility.

Great day x Donna Bee
