Community Action offers advice and support to voluntary and community organisations in Derby.

Community Action Derby is a registered charity providing support and guidance for voluntary and community groups. We run training courses and have lots of resources to help you gather all the information you need to run your voluntary or community group effectively. We also find out what is going on in your community and try to ensure that your community's needs and issues are taken into account when decisions are made by statutory bodies, such as Derby City Council.

📢 Funding Opportunities for Community Groups in Arboretum and New Normanton! 🌱

Are you a community group or voluntary organisation looking to make a positive difference in your local area?

Book your place for a FREE Pride in Place Funding Workshop to help local groups understand the funding available and how to apply for support for their projects.

What funding is available?
🔹 Community Engagement: A £25,000 funding pot, with groups able to apply for up to £2,000 per project.
🔹 Quick-Win Projects: Funding of up to £5,000 per project.

What will the workshop cover?
🔹An introduction to New Normanton Pride in Place.
🔹Available funding opportunities and eligibility criteria.
🔹What the Board looks for in an application.
🔹How funding decisions will be made and the expected timeline.
🔹Time to ask questions, explore project ideas and get help with the application form.

🎙️Our Derby Diverse Carers programme was in the spotlight on Radio Derby this morning!

Programme Lead Becky Edwards joined Harriet Brown from Derby Carers Information, Advice and Support Service to talk to presenter Dean Jackson about the findings of our Derby Diverse Carers Report 2025/26.

They discussed what unpaid carers from diverse communities across Derby told us about their experiences, the barriers they face in accessing support and what needs to change.

A huge thank you to BBC Derby for giving us the opportunity to talk about this important work.

🗣️Share your thoughts about NHS services💭

The Community Health Alliance is a partnership that brings together Black communities, community organisations and the NHS across Derby and Derbyshire. It has been set up to listen to experiences, build trust and help make health and care services fairer and more inclusive for Black communities.

The survey is for people from Black, African, Caribbean and mixed heritage communities that include Black identity living in Derby and Derbyshire. The Alliance wants to hear what is working well in the NHS, what could be better, and what changes people would like to see.

You can share experiences of things like:

🔹What are the gaps, barriers, and how can services be improved?
🔹How do you prefer the NHS to communicate?

Anti-racism Education Programme Launched in Derby Schools by Show Racism the Red Card

Show Racism the Red Card is delighted to be expanding its anti-racism education work across Derby.
