eid mubarak.

today is called the festival of sacrifice.
not the festival of food.
not the festival of new clothes.
not the festival of eidi.

sacrifice.

ibrahim (as) was asked to give up the thing he loved most. he said yes before he understood why.

and we on the day named after that moment, what are we sacrificing?

a couple of hours of sleep for fajr.
maybe.

eid isn't the end of ibadah. it's the test of whether the last ten days changed you.

if dhul hijjah meant anything to you, today is where you prove it. not with another selfie. with sadaqah given quietly while everyone else is eating.

the prophet ๏ทบ said the most beloved deeds to allah are the consistent ones. eid is the day most people stop. be one of the ones who doesn't.

today is the day of arafah.
the day allah forgives sins like sea foam.
the day duas are answered before they finish leaving your tongue.

and right now, in egypt, mothers and fathers and children from gaza are sitting in hospital beds. they escaped the bombs. they did not escape the price of escaping.

some cannot walk to the bathroom.
some cannot hold their kids.
some haven't stood up to pray in months.

a prosthetic limb is not just a leg. it's wudu standing up. it's salah in jamaat. it's walking your daughter to school. every step they take with it โ€” for the rest of their life โ€” is your scale on yawm al-qiyamah.

that's sadaqah jariyah in its truest form.
