SPONDON DOG OWNERS AND WALKERS READ AND SHARE!! ⚠️
All dog owners in Spondon please be aware that a dog was seriously injured by an Tan coloured XL Bully breed in an unprovoked attack who was not under control or accompanied by an owner on Chesterton road yesterday evening (17th May 2026 approx 6:30pm) and is thought to live in the local area. I know there are a lot of dog owners who use this road and surrounding roads for regular daily walks. Please be vigilant and make others aware- this is not a discredit/slander to the breed but to the individual owner of this dog and to make locals aware of the potential danger.

This has been sent in by a few concerned spondon members now.

If you have any information or witnessed this vicious attack please report this to 101 under the reference number 936-170526. Please see Spondon Councillors post below for more information:

🏘️ Erewash Borough Council to Withdraw Local Plan 🏘️

The Head of Planning at Erewash Borough Council has written to Kelly Ford, Planning Inspector, stating the Council’s intention to withdraw the Local Plan.

It is now vitally important that the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Steve Reed MP, intervenes in the planning application for Spondon Wood that has already been approved.

With the Plan being withdrawn, the land remains Green Belt and this status should be upheld accordingly. Failure to do so would represent a serious breach of the planning process and would make a mockery of the entire system.

We have requested that all residents contact our MP, Jonathan Davies, asking him to intervene directly with the Secretary of State to follow up on our request for intervention.

Please email Jonathan Davies MP using the email address provided in the first comment. The more emails received will show how strong of a feeling we still have about this whole process.

It has been fundamentally flawed from start to finish.
