A look back on 2025 Halloween & Christmas shows - thanks to all who came

We kick off the full show tomorrow but before that here’s some Fun Facts!

I often get asked many questions about the show and thought it might be fun and interesting to share some of the most common answers to these :

- There are around a total of 15,000 led's in the show currently

- Every single led has to be pushed by hand into place, nothing is pre-built as each show is unique to the house it is on. Believe me, you get sore thumbs doing this

- It took about 10 months to build the first show back in 2020 working on it most weeks. The lockdown that year helped me focus though 😆

- Planning each year starts around March for the Halloween show, and then it's a reasonably easy change over for Christmas after that

- The show is run by a dedicated computer (RPi) which has it's own network and 'talks' to 3 show controller boards. The controllers tell each led what to do and when to do it

- The show is run on an automated schedule, turning itself on and off at the right times and playing the right playlists that are set

- Each song and sequence is programmed against a digital version of the house and then uploaded to the show player

- The led's run at just 19% of their brightness, if they were at 100% they would probably burn everyone's retinas out 😎

- There are over 50 songs/sequences in the show currently and the running order of these is randomised each night. This means that there are more songs than needed, meaning that every night is different and unique - no two nights are exactly the same.

- The most common question is 'what's your electricity bill like?'. Well, we hacked into nextdoors power supply so it's fine, just don't tell them. Obviously only joking, but surprisingly it only costs around £1 per show

- What's the biggest headache? Trying to to keep the road clear in front of the house, please don't park there! 🙏

- Our charity, Treetops Hospice, is chosen because they helped my Dad and my family so much at a difficult time in our lives and we wanted to support and give a little back to them as thanks for all the great work they do ❤️ https://www.justgiving.com/page/thestillsylightshow2025

Tune into the show on your mobile to listen to the music - it's like having your own personal show!

We have just hooked up mobile audio streaming to the show via an app (see link below) on your phone, meaning we are able to extend our show days

From Sat 13th to Wed 17th Dec there will be a smaller selection of Christmas favourites playing and all you need to do is either download the App using the link below before coming or scan the QR code when you arrive - enable location and select The Stillsy Lightshow to listen on your phone or via headphones

It will be playing from 4.30pm through to 10pm each night up until the 17th Dec, after which the main scheduled showtimes take over with external speakers from Thu 18th Dec as advertised
