What a lovely meeting! The hall was full, and the creative juices were flowing! We were joined by Vicky from Pottery Homes who led a pottery chicken workshop… she’ll glaze and fire them and bring them back to our AGM in May ( the committee are clever with ideas like that!!) The whole evening was thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable, huge thanks to Vicky! And to Linda and Sue for helping with refreshments and Jacky for closing the meeting with a poem.
This Saturday we will be in the village hall serving sausage and bacon cobs at theWeston on Trent Earth Day cafe - do come along this is a fantastic community event with a full programme of activities.
Next month we’ll be enjoying Gin! A plant swap, and being reunited with our works of art!

Sharing, ahead of Weston on Trent's community event Weston on Trent Earth Day if you are having a Spring Clean and have any unwanted patterned cotton (- see post image) please bring them along on the day, they will go to such a worthwhile project.

At Weston On Trent Earth Day we will be collecting the materials below to enable Aquabox...a local charity...to make washable feminine hygiene products to give to refugee camps and other women in need. Please do come along on the 18th to weston village hall to join in the environmentally friendly fun and donate any spare quilt covers etc you may have. As my grandma used to say...waste not want not. x

Yes, Colin from Aquabox! We were blown away by your talk about Aquabox! Already, our WhatsApp chat is full of our members telling us how much they enjoyed the evening.

In their own words, " Aquabox is a charitable organisation dedicated to ensuring access to safe drinking water." It was so interesting to hear about how the charity started and the valuable work it does.

Colin demonstrated the filter and unpacked a Aqua- Aid Humanitarian box ( apparently, Scout and School groups get the chance to repack it under timed conditions ! ). These boxes are filled with the most practical and thoughtful items, and with compassion we were all taken with the"San Pads" washable sanitary items. We will be organising a fabric collection for these in the future.

We cannot recommend Colin and this talk highly enough, and perhaps suggest that if you have Open meetings, this might be one that your community might find very interesting. Please take a look at www.aquabox.org for details, and worth noting that they welcome tours of their warehouse in Wirksworth.

Our members are invited to our planning meeting upstairs in the village hall next Monday, 16th, 19:30.

Next month, members are looking forward to a pottery evening.
