Denmead Twinning Association Denmead has been twinned with Saint Georges for 30 years. One year a group of families from Denmead Care is taken to match families, based on age and interests.

The highlight of the year is when families from the two villages visit for a long weekend, normally in May. One year the Denmead families visit Saint-Georges and the f

ollowing year Saint-Georges families come to Denmead. Visitors stay with their linked family who host them during their three-day visit; the long weekend allows for many social events, individual outings and visits to local places of interest. As a group, we have taken our Saint-Georges visitors to places including Spinnaker Tower, Fishbourne Roman Palace, D-Day Museum, HMS Warrior, and Wi******er. Many friendships have been established over the years. Social events
There are also several social events that are held throughout the year in Denmead to enable the members and their guests to meet, have an enjoyable evening together, and raise funds for the Association. These are really good fun events and well attended. Over the years we have held dinners (Saint-Georges, Burns Night, Italian evening, BBQs), music (Shep Woolley, Barn Dances, Steel Band, Summer Jazz Party) plus quizzes, jumble sales, and garden parties. In January each year, the Annual General Meeting is held. Here the Chairman and Treasurer report to members, the committee for the next year is elected and members can make their views known.

We started with the formal part - a special welcome from the mayor and our twins from Saint Georges. During this event our chairman Keith (left) presented a wonderful plaque to them to commemorate over 30 years of friendship.

Around 40 from Denmead have now all returned after a long weekend of our twinning visit to Saint Georges in France. We were looked after incredibly well as usual.

Two of our French twins are on holiday in France!! But not what you'd expect. They are in Guadeloupe in the Caribbean in a French overseas department - so it's like being at home with the language and currency (euro). Except they have lovely warm weather. Lucky them!!

The three presenters and compère entertained and amused us at the weekend Call My Wine Bluff. A brilliant evening of Fun, Friendship and Entente Cordiale! The full house of 11 teams had a great evening.
