💬 About Us
2235 (Deal) Squadron is part of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC), supporting young people aged 12–20 in Deal and the surrounding areas. We provide exciting opportunities in flying, fieldcraft, navigation, STEM, leadership, adventure training, and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and more…
Our squadron is a busy and welcoming unit with around 30 cadets and 13 adult volunteers. We’re proud to offer a supportive and structured environment that helps young people develop confidence, teamwork, and life skills.
We’re now looking for enthusiastic and dependable adult volunteers to join our friendly team and help us continue to deliver a fun, challenging, and rewarding experience for our cadets.
Ideally, we’d love to welcome both male and female volunteers to provide diverse role models but enthusiasm, reliability, and a positive attitude are what truly matter most.
🧭 The Role
As an Adult Volunteer you will:
• Support the squadron’s parade nights (typically two evenings per week).
• Help plan and deliver a range of training and adventure-based activities.
• Mentor and supervise cadets during local and national events.
• Support weekend activities such as fieldcraft, flying, and adventure training.
• Work as part of a dedicated, supportive team to create a safe and inspiring environment.
You can volunteer as a Civilian Instructor (CI) or in uniform as a Cadet Forces Adult Volunteer (CFAV) both roles are equally valued and fully supported.
🧩 What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking people who are:
• Friendly, approachable, and confident working with young people.
• Reliable and willing to learn new skills.
• Team players who uphold RAFAC values of Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence.
• Enthusiastic about making a difference in their community.
No military background or prior experience is needed, just enthusiasm and a desire to help. Full training and support will be provided, including safeguarding, first aid, and leadership courses.

🧾 Requirements
• Minimum age: 20 years
• Able to pass standard RAFAC background and Security checks (DBS and references) and BPSS.
• Willing to attend regular evening parades and occasional weekend events
