💜 It’s Carers Week 💜

In Kent 1 in 9 of us are looking after a friend or family member. While caring can be incredibly rewarding, it can also feel overwhelming at times.

Many Carers don’t even recognise themselves as Carers and that means they may be missing out on support.

This Carers Week, Carers’ Support East Kent wants to reach more Carers across our community.

A Carer could be a mum, a dad, a daughter, a son, a partner or a friend. It’s not always a role people choose but it’s one they take on every single day.

You are not alone. At Carers’ Support East Kent, we’re here to help. From practical information to emotional support and a listening ear, we’re here to help you feel more in control.

If you’re caring for someone, whatever your situation, we’re here for you.

💙 Carers Week 8 - 14 June 2026: Building Carer Friendly Communities 💙

This Carers Week, Carers Support East Kent is proud to highlight the importance of creating Carer Friendly Communities, helping Carers feel recognised, supported, and valued.

Caring for a friend or relative can be both rewarding and challenging, and often it’s the small, everyday actions that can make a real difference.

✨ Simple things we can all do include:

Taking the time to ask a Carer how they’re really doing and listening without judgement
Being flexible and understanding if a Carer needs to change plans or adjust working hours
Offering practical help like picking up shopping or running an errand
Making local services, workplaces, and community spaces more aware of Carers’ needs

When communities come together, Carers can feel less isolated and more supported—and that benefits everyone

👉 This Carers Week, we’re asking individuals, organisations, and communities to stand with Carers and make a difference.

Pledge your support today: https://www.carersweek.org/

Together, we can build kinder, more inclusive communities where Carers are truly valued.

🌟 Thank You for a Fantastic Carer Connect Day! 🌟

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and supported our Carer Connect Day this week, what a truly inspiring and valuable event!

We’re incredibly grateful to our wonderful sponsors, Clutter B Gone and Good Oaks Home Care, for helping make the day such a success.

It was fantastic to see Carers and professionals come together, sharing experiences and insights. The voices of Carers highlighted both the diverse challenges people face and the real power of connection and shared understanding.

From our panel discussions and tabletop conversations to the valuable feedback gathered, we now have meaningful insights that will help us take forward actions to help create positive change for Carers across East Kent.

A big thank you to the local organisations and charities who joined us in the Marketplace, showcasing the vital support and services available to Carers in our community.

We also extend our thanks to all speakers who contributed to the Q&A discussion on shaping Carer Friendly Communities; with representatives from health, social care and the voluntary sector working together towards a shared goal.
Special thanks to:

Girling’s Solicitors
Dementia Experience
KCC Involvement Team
Carers Advisory Group

…for facilitating such engaging and thought-provoking group discussions.

We’re also grateful to East Kent Mind and Time to Shine for leading wellbeing activities, and to Medequip and Home Optics for delivering bespoke information sessions.

Together, we are building stronger, more supportive communities for carers in East Kent.
