🍽️🍻 THERE'S NOTHING QUITE LIKE A GOOD PUB LUNCH!

Two of our gentlemen from Main Road recently headed out to a local pub for a spot of lunch — and it's safe to say they thoroughly enjoyed themselves! 😋

Good food, a change of scenery and some lovely company. What more could you ask for?
The verdict from the gentlemen themselves? "let's come back for Christmas lunch " 😄
Sometimes, it's the simple pleasures that make for a really lovely day out. 💜

👩‍🍳💜 COOKING UP CONFIDENCE AT SOLDEN HOUSE!
Two of our lovely ladies at Solden House have been busy in the kitchen recently, working hard on preparing and cooking their own meals — and they're both making fantastic progress! 👏
From choosing ingredients to preparing meals, every opportunity to get involved helps build confidence, develop practical skills and encourage greater independence.
It's wonderful to see how far they're coming, and we're incredibly proud of them both!
Keep up the great work, ladies! 💜🍽️

💜 BEFORE THERE WAS SOLDEN HILL HOUSE…

Following the lovely response to last week's trip down memory lane, we've uncovered something rather special!

📜 An original newspaper advert from March 1953, advertising the property that would become Solden Hill House.

Described as a handsome stone-built residence, the property boasted eight bedrooms, three bathrooms, four reception rooms, a schoolroom and approximately 80 acres of land!

Just a year later, in 1954, Solden Hill House began its journey of providing care and support to people with learning disabilities.

Fast forward more than 70 years and, although so much has changed, Solden Hill House continues to provide residential care and supported living, helping people to build independence, enjoy new experiences and live fulfilling lives.

It's quite something to think that this little newspaper advert is part of the story of the charity we know today. 💜

From a property advertised in 1953 to over 70 years of supporting people — what a journey!

What a month it's been across Solden Hill House!

💜 Could you help shape the future of Solden Hill House?

We’re looking for up to four new Trustees to join the Board of Solden Hill House and help us continue making a difference to the lives of the people we support.

Solden Hill House provides residential care and supported living for more than 50 adults with learning disabilities and complex needs across Byfield, Brackley, Duston and the surrounding areas.

Perhaps you have experience in Health & Social Care, Learning Disabilities, Safeguarding, Governance, Compliance, HR, Property, Finance, Fundraising or Marketing.
Or perhaps you simply have valuable professional experience, good professional input and a desire to use your skills to support a local charity.

✨ You don’t need to have been a Trustee before.
We’re looking for people who will bring fresh ideas, ask good questions, offer constructive challenge and work alongside our existing Trustees and Senior Management Team to help shape our future.

💜 What’s involved?
• Four scheduled Board meetings each year
• In-person attendance is preferred, although digital attendance will be considered
• Full induction and ongoing support
• A voluntary position, with reasonable expenses reimbursed
Most importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to use your skills and experience to help ensure the people we support remain at the heart of everything we do.

💜 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝟏𝟗𝟓𝟒

This photograph is part of the history of Solden Hill House — and a wonderful reminder of just how far that history stretches back.

Since 1954, Solden Hill House has been providing care and support to adults with learning disabilities. More than 70 years later, we’re still here, still evolving and, most importantly, still focused on helping the people we support live happy, fulfilling lives.

A lot has changed over seven decades. Our homes, our services and the way support is provided have developed enormously — but people, relationships, individuality and making every day that little bit better remain at the heart of Solden.

Today, we’re proud to continue that legacy across our residential and supported living services, while still achieving, still receiving recognition for the quality of our support and always looking at how we can make things even better.

Over 70 years of history. Still growing. Still achieving. Still Solden. 💜

Looking for a care role that gives you more flexibility around when you work?

We’re currently looking for friendly, reliable and caring people to join Team Solden as Bank Support Workers at our homes in Duston.

As a Bank Support Worker, there are no guaranteed weekly hours – instead, you can choose from available shifts to fit around your other commitments, helping us provide additional cover for holidays, sickness and busy periods.
It could be ideal if you’re looking for extra hours alongside another job, greater flexibility around family or other commitments, or a way to start or return to a career in care.

💜 What does the role involve?
You’ll be supporting adults with learning disabilities to live happy, fulfilling and increasingly independent lives. Depending on the individual, this could include supporting everyday living skills, personal care and medication, getting out into the community, attending appointments and activities, and encouraging choice, confidence and independence.
What matters most is taking the time to get to know the people you support and understanding what matters to them.
