Congratulations to CMS client The New Clarence in Hull on winning the 2025 CAMRA Pub Saving Award.

We are incredibly proud to have been awarded CAMRA’s Pub Saving Award 2025 for saving The New Clarence 🍻

We never set out to win an award – our goal was simply to save a much-loved community asset that people wanted, needed, and now truly enjoy. To be recognised for all the hard work (a real labour of love) means so much to us, and we are extremely grateful for this award.

Since reopening in September, it’s been amazing to see so many people coming through the doors, enjoying The New Clarence, our real ales, and good old-fashioned traditional pub grub. This pub belongs to the community, and we couldn’t have done it without you all. Plus a huge thank you to Co-operatives UK, Plunkett, and HM Government for their invaluable business development support and funding. And of course, a massive thank you to our 525 members

CMS client the New Clarence opens its doors today after a determined ommunity campaign to save then buy the pub under community ownership.

“Today is the day we throw our doors open to the public! For the last two years, we’ve worked tirelessly to make this happen—and here we are. The pub is open, community-owned, with 470 shareholders. What does that tell you? It tells you that everyone wanted this pub open, and together, we’ve made it happen.

So come in, have a pint, enjoy some great conversation, grab a pie, some chips, or a bag of crisps—but most of all, enjoy yourself. Because this is your pub: community-owned, community-run, and here for the whole community.

It’s been a fantastic journey to reach this point, and we are absolutely thrilled to welcome you all through the doors today. Thank you very much.”
