A big thank you to our May speaker, Tanya Bentham, for an educational and captivating talk about “Naughty Medieval Embroidery” today. It was fascinating to learn a little about the history of traditional medieval embroidery, telling stories through stitch with hand dyed wool and silk but also to hear about how you interpreted those stories in a playful and humorous way in your own responses, bringing them to life for current times. Your enthusiasm and knowledge was wonderful, a real treat, thank you.

At our April Meeting the group enjoyed a very comprehensive workshop from Beverley Warrington who gave us an introductory talk covering the history And tradition of Otomi work.
All members enjoyed a relaxed afternoon following instructions from Beverley who provided a kit for everyone. Lots of chatting and stitching filled the venue. This proved to be a very popular meeting - Beverley even had to make up extra kits on the spot!

We also had lots of entries for our Spring Unfolding competition.

At our March meeting the group enjoyed a very comprehensive talk from Fiona and Joanna covering the history of lace making through to a short demonstration of the technique which uses a combination of 3 stitches to create the intricate patterns as shown below. The talk along with a most wonderful display of lace made for an enjoyable and informative afternoon.
Also, members brought along their completed Watery Fish pieces in various stages of completion from Lesley’s workshop in February.
