May Group Camp Report.
We had a very busy weekend camp with our Cubs and Beavers visiting on Saturday. The Cubs and Beavers had a busy day playing games and bivvi building in the woods. The Scouts took on a compass course and some tenderfoot training on Sunday.
Due to the weather changing on Saturday we spent the evening playing charades and learning a great new campfire song about Penguins!!
Fortunately the weather was dry and bright on Sunday meaning we could get our tents down dry.

We have a change of date for our next camp which will now be on the 12th-14th June, details will be sent out later this week.

Easter camp, Hexham, day 3 report

Following a scrumptious breakfast of bacon grill, eggs and mushrooms, campers headed over to the marquee for a Scout's Own.

For the uninitiated among you, a Scout’s Own is a theologically syncretic, non-denominational service that characteristically fuses elements of Native American cosmological tradition and eschatologically ambiguous prayer... with singing the word ‘refrain’ whenever it’s mentioned on the hymn sheet.

Scouts then partook in a woodcraft trail where Easter eggs were, of course, the reward for completing it.

Ham and cheese wraps were dry fried for lunch before packing up camp.

Reflecting on the weekend, one Scout said: “The food was amazing. It was very cold. I like the daffodils.” Another Scout added: “The weather was ok but it could have been better.” A final Scout said: “I liked the charismatic sheep.” Reader, no further information about this sheep was divulged.

Easter camp, Hexham, day 2 report

Storm Dave? Didn't blow us away.

On Saturday, after a day of Scout training, a game of rounders, and sneaking up on sheep (well, attempting to), the Scouts had a tea of bangers and mash. One Scout described it as "bangin'."

Leaders then formed a hack search and rescue squad to source and return the farmer's dog who had gone for a solo walk. In no time, canine was returned to carer.

Everyone then retreated into the marquee for a game of Herd Mentality where we found out what campers considered the best school subjects, fizzy drinks, pizza toppings and qualities of John.

Breezy Dave blew through camp on Saturday night, leaving some platewarmers misplaced and billy lids askew.

Campers were awoken on Sunday morning by the bleating of sheep... presumably returning the favour and sneaking up on Scouts (well, attempting to).

HAPPY EASTER! ✝️

East camp, Hexham, day 1 report

A group of 10 Scouts, 1 Senior and some leaders arrived at Hexham in good time on Friday morning and quickly erected tents and kitchens between spouts of glorious sunshine, lashing rain, glorious sunshine and then even more lashing rain.

The afternoon was spent wood collecting and having free time in the woods before repitching the marquee and leaders’ tents out of the pre-gale jetstream of Storm Rodney (er, shouldn’t that be Dave?)

For tea, there was pasta bolognese. One Scout described it as: “Pretty good,” another Scout said: “It was excellent,” and one harsh critic said “It was alright but I didn’t like the mushrooms”.

There was time for a quick game of quick cricket, and a quiz where one category was ‘Leading Men and Ladies’ before bed.

Scouts arose very very early this morning (Saturday) before a breakfast of eggs, bacon and mushroom. One Scout said: “I still didn’t like the mushrooms.”
