Darlington Area Churches Youth Ministry (DACYM) is a community based youth-focused outreach initiative that helps supports churches with their work with young people. DACYM also specialises in emotional & behavioural support for young people. Established as an independent charity in 2010, we work from an inclusive Christian value base, using the principles and practices of informal education and c

ommunity development. It is our aim that through this work, the lives of young people will be transformed educationally, socially and spiritually, thus empowering them to achieve their full potential. DACYM works with over half of the secondary schools in Darlington, it helps by providing assemblies, RE/PHSE Lessons, lunchtime activities and support for pupils with behaviour problems and at possible risk of exclusion.

This week we were in Hummersknott Academy leading assemblies on Harvest and Fairtrade. Wonderful students and supportive staff.

One year 11 student who I bumped into in the canteen said these assemblies will be one if his lasting memories of Hummersknott - looking forward to Christmas and Easter now.

"The Listening Post is my safe space to talk. It is a good place to deal with those emotions that bubble up inside, as I was having to bottle them up before. Talking gets me to let go of those negative thoughts trapped in my mind. The sessions make me feel happier, in fact my mum and dad have noticed a difference in me!"
