We are taking referrals for our next block of Play in Mind woodland sessions - all free to participants. They will take place in Dalkeith over 12 weeks, Friday 25th September – 11th December 2026.

If you would like to refer a child aged 7-12 with emerging mental health challenges, please complete the online referral form at https://tinyurl.com/3954chvt

Parents/carers can refer their child, as can professionals working with the family.

The closing date for referrals is Friday 4th September.

What a fantastic Playday! 💛

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today in King's Park, Dalkeith, to celebrate UK Playday. It was wonderful to see so many children and families playing.

Play is something every child has a right and need to do. It is essential for children's health, wellbeing, relationships and development. But it doesn’t need to involve expensive activities, costly toys or trips – the simplest and free ideas are often the most fun. Make some space for play and have everyday adventures!

This year's Playday felt particularly special for us as Play Midlothian celebrates 30 years of promoting more and better play opportunities for children across Midlothian.

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a success. We hope you had as much fun as we did!

Happy Playday 2026! Across the UK, celebrations are highlighting the importance of children being able to play here, there and everywhere! Small moments of play every day, whether at home or out and about, make a huge difference to children's lives. We chatted about this and our work to help ensure all children can access play with visitors Provost Debbi McCall, Colin Cassidy Councillor for Dalkeith Ward 3 and Colin Beattie MSP for Midlothian North.
