Ceffyl Du RDA Carriage Driving Providing disabled people with the opportunity to carriage drive at our base in Cwmbran Ceffyl Du Carriage Driving for the Disabled Group was formed in 1985.

Our aim is to provide disabled people with the opportunity to carriage drive to benefit their health, well being and quality of life. Carriage Driving is particularly useful for people who can no longer ride or prefer a different kind of challenge. The group owns one pony, Tinker and one more pony Daisy who is loaned to us. We own 2 specialised carriages which all have a ramp to make it easier to load a driver in a wheelchair. As the only driving group in the region our drivers come from far and wide and we welcome new members and volunteers. We are a registered Charitable Incorporated organisation (charity No.1173383) and a member of the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA-charity No. 244108) and are therefore bound by their standards of care and safety and inspected regularly.

Wishing our pony Tinker a very happy retirement!

Ceffyl Du bought Tinker in 2007, only for her to have a surprise foal in 2008!

Since then she has been a much loved member of our team and has introduced many drivers and volunteers to carriage driving 💚

Tinker will now enjoy a very well deserved retirement alongside her field mate Poppy.

We had a great day out at Royal Windsor Horse Show yesterday

Was fabulous to see the driving for the disabled showing and cones class

Other highlights included the International Carriage Driving 4 in hand dressage competition as well as the range of showing classes, show jumping, mounted pony club games and the main arena displays.

Our thoughts are with the soldier who sadly died at the end of the day following the Kings Troop musical drive.

Earlier this year we very sadly said goodbye to Hilary, one of our founding members.

Hilary has been there from the start alongside Penny creating our group 40 years ago and has been incredible as a volunteer, coach and friend.

She has also looked after our pony Tinker for many years at her own home.

She will be dearly missed by all of us, including the ponies.

A celebration of her life was held in Gilwern where stories and love were shared with family and friends, highlighting what a wonderful woman she was.

An amazing amount has been donated to Ceffyl Du and Tinker's Trust in memory of Hilary. Thank you so much to those who have donated.
